Roon ARC Equalizer presets backup

Hello, I like very much how the Equalizer works in roon ARC, but I have two very elementary difficulties, it seems a shame that they are not implemented in such a good equalizer.

  1. I can’t find any way to save or export my presets. I have read in this discussion that they are saved in my Roon account cloud, but I cannot find any other information about how this cloud works and I cannot even understand if this cloud is really set up and currently working with my account.

  2. Presets are immediately and automatically saved as soon as you make changes on them. This makes quite difficult to go back to your (supposedly) saved preset after making changes. You have to remember to make a copy of your preset before making any changes.

Do you have any additional information or advice?

On point 1: The Presets are not stored ‘in the cloud’. They are stored in the Roon Database. When you backup your database, the backup contains the zone settings and presets.

On point 2: Changes to the equaliser are immediately applied to the current zone settings - but they are not saved in a preset. That is performed as a separate action:

Once you have saved the MUSE settings (all of them) to a preset, then changing any one of them, including the equaliser settings, will mark the preset as ‘modified’ using a ‘*’ indicator:

You can then do one of four actions:

  1. Do nothing. The new settings will continue to be used on that zone.
  2. ‘Save’ the new settings to update the existing preset
  3. ‘Revert’ the new settings to go back to the settings in the preset
  4. ‘Save preset as’ a new preset. The old preset will continue to be available.

In resetting my system after making changes to the zone to show the above, I noticed (for the first time) that you can also save the Parametric EQ settings as an EQ preset independently of other DSP settings:

After saving (I saved a PEQ settings as ‘Wade TV’ for the above image), if you modify the PEQ settings you can save the settings as a new PEQ preset but you cannot change the existing one (other than changing it’s name or deleting it).

Thank you for your answer, but it looks like it applies to the roon program for desktop, while my question was about roon ARC in my Android smartphone.

The options in ARC are broadly the same but they don’t work quite the same way.

For the equaliser only presets, once you have made a preset (and assuming you have not reset the equalizer settings to default - so that the preset is still applied), any changes you make to the settings are automatically saved to the preset (unlike in the Roon client) but you can make a copy of the preset (and give it a new name before you change them and select the copy so that you can change the settings in the copy leaving the original intact and available to select.

If you want to change the equalizer settings to something totally unrelated to the current preset, you can also “Reset the equalizer to default”, modify the equaliser settings as you wish and then select ‘Create a new Preset’ to save the new settings.

The ARC MUSE presets (which include equalizer settings but also include everything else) work in substantially the same way as they do on the Roon client with a similar set of options available.
