Roon ARC for Android Automotive Operating System (as in Volvo, Lucid, Renault and few other cars)

Thanks @RiMac for the news about Qobuz!
+1 for Roon ARC for AAOS.

I’d like to see an AAOS native ROON ARC also. I drive a 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ, and am using ROON ARC through Apple CarPlay. That will not be possible in any 2025 or later GM vehicle, as GM has decided (probably for security reasons) to drop support for BOTH Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and ONLY allow apps on AAOS. Further, not all AAOS apps are GM certified.

ROON ARC is one of the only ways to get parametric EQ in the vehicle.

I also voted for this. I own a Volvo EX30 and on AAOS the Roon ARC app isn’t available. I would love to have this to play music from my local library on my NAS.

I’d like to see an AAOS native ROON ARC also. I have a RENAULT Scénic.

In my new Volvo ex90 there is no CarPlay. So I hope Roon will build an arc app for Android Automotive.

Yes Yes Yes! I have a 2024 XC90 T8 Recharge with the Bowers & Wilkins sound system. A native roon app would be ideal. I can connect my iphone via carplay and play that way, however, the most you can get is 24bit/96Khz. A native app would allow me to get full bitrate.

PLEASE!

I will keep my vote for this, but now an OTA update has brought wired Android Auto to my Volvo I am less fussed about Arc being available through Android Automotive

Any news on this? Can’t wait for a Roon AAOS app.

I am currently on the free trial and I am not sure if I am going to continue paying for roon. Support for Roon Arc in AAOS would make keeping the subscription a no brainer for me. I am pretty sure neither JellyFin nor Plex offer AAOS apps so Roon would be the only “streaming from home” player on that growing platform.

I would vote for this for my Volvo XC60 Recharge! Thanks.

Added a vote for my new Polestar 4. Come on Roon, please move forward on this topic…

How do you get 24bit at 96kHz? I cannot get past 48kHz…

I own a 2025.5 Volvo XC90 featuring an incredible Bowers & Wilkins audio system. I would also love to see an ARC implementation for Android Automotive OS, which could bypass CarPlay’s 48kHz limitation.

Any news on this app Michael? It still would be very useful in cars with AAOS.

First of all thanks for the feedback. As of now it’s not in our plans, but we appreciate the feedback and will certainly come to you for thoughts when we circle back to this item.

Got my vote here. My new Chevrolet Blazer EV does not support Android auto. Chevrolet is moving every new car to AAOS.

Absolutely agree. Having Roon ARC available on Android Automotive OS would be a game-changer for music lovers who care about high-quality streaming and library access on the road. With more vehicles now running Android Automotive natively (like Polestar, Volvo, Renault, Cadillac, Lucid, and others), the demand for seamless integration is only growing.

I’m currently driving a Renault Megane E-Tech, which runs Android Automotive OS (OpenR Link), and I’ve noticed that Roon ARC isn’t available in the Play Store for this platform. It would be fantastic if the Roon team could consider publishing ARC for Android Automotive so we can enjoy our personal libraries and high-res streaming directly from the car’s infotainment system, without needing to using Android Auto or to tether.

Please consider adding Roon ARC to the Android Automotive Play Store, there’s clearly a passionate user base ready to embrace it!

Thanks for the response, I appreciate the transparency.

That said, I’ve decided to switch to TIDAL for in-car listening, since it’s already supported on Android Automotive OS and integrates seamlessly with my Renault Megane E-Tech. It’s a bit disappointing, because Roon ARC is fantastic on mobile, and having it available natively in the car would’ve been ideal.

From a technical standpoint, it seems like the only missing piece is uploading the existing Android version of Roon ARC to the Android Automotive Play Store. The OS already supports media apps with playback, album art, and voice control; Roon ARC fits that model perfectly. If there are deeper integration challenges, I’d be happy to help test or provide feedback when you revisit this.

Hope to see ARC on Android Automotive in the future, it would make the Roon ecosystem truly complete for those of us who live with music everywhere.
