Roon ARC 'hangs up' on first use-- will not sync with Roon Server

Describe your network setup

Network devices are Verizon FiOS modem and Verizon FiOS G3100 router. I also have several TP-Link AC1200, Netgear EX7300-100NAR and Netgear AC750 (EX3700-100NAS) range extenders installed around the house

Hey @Alan_Edelstein,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your report - it’s good to see you on the community again! Sorry to hear it’s and issue that prompted your recent post though.

We were able to see your device attempting to connect to your Roon Server through Arc and failing - as a next step, could you navigate to your Roon Settings > Roon Arc >Advanced and share a screenshot? Do you see the purple check mark and a ‘Ready’ status?

Range extenders can sometimes be troublesome with Roon, can you confirm you have a direct ethernet connection from your server machine to your primary router? This may help as well.

Let us know! :raised_hands:

Thanks for getting back to me quickly regarding my difficulties with Roon ARC. I tried plugging the host for my Roon server (an old Dell XPS laptop) directly to my Verizon FiOS G3100 router. This did not solve my problem with Roon ARC not starting. However, I did some more reading on the Roon online help pages and decided to experiment with Tailscale as this was recommended as an alternate fix. I also swapped a newer Lenovo AMD Ryzen7 laptop as my new Roon server and swapped out the old Dell laptop. Miraculously, both Roon ARC and the regular Roon app now seem to be working properly (at least within the confines of my home) using my Google Pixel 8 as the endpoint for Roon ARC and as a remote for the main Roon app. The next big test will be when I try using Roon ARC outside of my home! :scream: :crossed_fingers:
