Roon ARC not working with Qobuz (ref#RITHQK) [Investigating]

Some further information (if it helps!) On occasion i can get a track selection to play, but when i skip to the next track, it always won’t playback.

Hi @Glen_Giffen,

Thanks for the additional information! My apologies if this has been glazed over, but have you reviewed any battery optimization or background restriction settings on the S22?

Samsung can sometimes aggressively manage background apps to preserve battery. This can pause or stop ARC unexpectedly.

  1. Settings > Apps > Roon ARC > Battery
  2. Set to "Unrestricted" (not "Optimized" or "Restricted")
Also check:
  • Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits
    • Disable "Put unused apps to sleep"
    • Add Roon ARC to "Never sleeping apps"

It’d also be worth checking:

  • Settings > Apps > Roon ARC > Mobile data
  • Enable "Allow background data usage" and "Allow data usage while Data saver is on"

If Data Saver is enabled, it can block background streaming.

  1. Settings > Connections > Data usage > Data saver
  2. Either disable it, or allow unrestricted data for Roon ARC

Let me know if any of the above help!

Appreciate the suggestions. Have applied these settings but unfortunately it doesn’t make any difference.

I still can’t stream Qobuz via Roon ARC either on mobile network or when connected to wifi.

Mentioned previously, tested Roon ARC on my Samsung Galaxy S9 tablet and Qobuz seems to stream fine.

Getting to the give up stage and maybe just accept that I’ll need to use two apps, one for streaming and ARC just for local library content (which works perfectly).

This is a relatively recent issue for Qobuz, used to work fine until about 2 updates ago.

Any last ditch, radical ideas or suggestions?

Oddly, the first track of an album will often play back, but thereafter it won’t. Very odd

Hey @Glen_Giffen,

Thanks for the above info! And you have my apologies if this has already been glazed over - have you tested out the playback quality from Arc settings with Qobuz?

If you navigate to your Arc settings > disable ‘Automatically pick best quality’ and select ‘Bandwidth Optimized’ for both Wifi and Cellular, and let me know if you run into the same issue.

With that - could you also test out plugging the phone into it’s charger via your typical outlet, and see if the same issue occurs?

Thank you!

Hi there,

Appreciate your ongoing assistance!

I have changed the setting as suggested and this makes no difference. Seems like quite a vexascious problem.

I’m coincidentally upgrading to a new nodel Samsung S25. Any further suggestions are welcome, but iI’ll also be sure to test if the problem carries over to the new phone and report back.

Thanks,
Glen

Hi there,

I have moved to a latest generation Samsung S25 phone and installed Roon ARC.

The problem is still occuring!!!

So it seems we can eliminate the phone as a source of the problem or any associated settings. So maybe it has to do with the ISP Telstra blocking across the mobile network.

I have tried Roon ARC with Tidal (rather than Qobuz) and it seems to work. Not sure if this is because of the very low bit rate of the trial version.

But yes, can stream Tidal via Roon ARC, but can’t stream Qobuz.

Hi @Glen_Giffen ,

Thanks for confirming this occurs across multiple devices. I wonder if the DNS could be related. Can you try to use this guide to change the DNS on your Samsung phone to another one (Cloudflare - 1.1.1.1 or Google 4.4.4.4) and see if that helps?

Hi @Glen_Giffen,
We spoke to our developers about your case. They asked if you can run a quick test for us?

  1. First, using your tablet on WiFi, try playing a specific Qobuz track in Roon ARC.
  2. Then, under the same network conditions, play the exact same track using your phone (Samsung S22) on WiFi.
  3. After that, switch your S22 to cellular data only (WiFi off) and try playing the same track again.

Let us know how each attempt goes and whether there’s any difference in behavior
