Roon ARC "Play Now" not playing full artist discography (ref#QSX3WP)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· When I press Play now on an artist's page Roon randomly shuffles and plays from that artist's discography, as well as any tracks they are featured on. However, when I perform the same operation in Roon Arc, it only plays one song by this artist instead of all the songs. How can I solve this problem?

I’ve tested this behavior on my end and wasn’t able to reproduce the same issue. Could you please share screenshots of the queue after pressing the Play button in ARC?

Also, to help us better understand the flow:

• Are you starting playback by tapping Play on the artist’s cover image, or
• Are you starting playback by selecting one of the featured songs listed lower on the screen?

This detail will help us narrow down where the behavior may be coming from.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.

Based on what’s shown there, the next track in the queue is by Avril Lavigne, which is the same artist. If you tap Next Track, playback should continue with that artist.

Could you please confirm whether your concern is that the queue appears empty or is not behaving as expected, or are you seeing something different when you try to skip to the next track?

Yes, my concern is that the queue appears empty, which is different from Roon.

When you start the playback from the Artist cover in ARC or Roon, the queue is actually empty in both cases.

Have you assigned a custom play action for Composers and Artists within Roon Settings → Play Actions?

Thank you for confirming.

That explains the behavior you’re seeing.

In Roon, your custom Play Action = Shuffle is applied when you tap Play Now on an artist. This creates a shuffled playback context and adds the queue list.

In Roon ARC, this same shuffle-based play action is not currently supported. ARC starts playback using a simpler play context, which is why you only see a single track play instead of a shuffled selection from the artist’s discography.

• Roon Desktop: honors your custom Shuffle play action
• Roon ARC: does not currently support that behavior
• Result: ARC plays only one track instead of a shuffled artist set

This is expected behavior, not a bug.

At this point, this would be considered a feature request for ARC to support the same play-action logic as Roon Desktop. I recommend adding or upvoting a request in the Feedback > Feature Suggestions category so the Product team can evaluate interest.
