Roon ARC Port 49934 Already in Use on ARRIS Xfinity Router (ref#2DVIC9)

Network Setup

· My only router was provided by my ISP

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· None of these are listed. It simply says "TIMEDOUT" or similar.

System or third-party *firewalls *or *antivirus software* can sometimes block RoonServer from reaching ARC.

·
Try adding RoonServer and its associated processes to the whitelist of any firewalls or antivirus software you have installed, including the Windows system firewall, if applicable.
[You can learn more about firewall exceptions with Roon here.](https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/firewall)

Has the status in Roon -> Settings -> ARC changed after adding exceptions in your firewalls and antivirus software for Roon?
I don't have any system or third-party firewalls or antivirus software.

Have you successfully located and enabled the UPnP or NAT-PMP settings in your router's web UI?

· UPnP is not listed in my router settings

· How would you like to continue with the network configuration?
I would like to try and find a solution for UPnP/NAT-PMP on Roon Community

Describe the issue

I think the resolution is simple, but I just do not understand router configurations. Roon ARC states, "Not ready. Port 49934 is already in use. Either change the listening port or close any applications which may be using this port." Router is ISP-provided ARRIS XfinityTG1682G Telephony Gateway. After reading Roon Community and Support articles, Xfinity help, and YouTube videos, I am just at a complete loss on what to do. I accessed my router via the IP address, but I still can't follow what to do from there, either. I can usually follow "cookbook" step-by-step instructions, but I am just not confident with any of this.... ANY help would be much appreciated.... Thanks.

Describe your network setup

ISP=Xfinity. Router info was included above. Network cable (wired) connection (not WiFi). Windows.

Hi @JHawk,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue.

If you get an error saying the port is in use, that means that the current port is already being used by another program on the same computer as your Roon Server. You’ll need to enter another port in Roon, in the Roon ARC tab of Settings. You can enter any available port in the 10,000 to 65,000 range.

Let me know if any of this is unclear or your issue is persisting after trying a different port. You can also find some more information about port forwarding and ARC here.
