ARC fails to handle multiple Bluetooth connections properly I use a separate Bluetooth speaker for phone calls only playing ARC over the Bluetooth connection to my car. The speaker has a battery backup and will connect to my phone prior to the car connecting. When it does so ARC automatically starts to play even though the Bluetooth connection it is using has not yet connected. It appears it is monitoring for any Bluetooth connection and not checking which connection is being made.

Hi @Peter_Hunsberger,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
When this occurred, where did music start playing - the phone speakers, or the Avantree endpoint? What was the track that started playing? Please let us know if you have reproduced it since, including the track title and timestamp.
On the Pixel phone with the Avantree connected, navigate to Connected Devices → Connection Preferences → Avantree Roadtrip. Is there an option for starting playback automatically listed there? Disable it if so.
The music starts playing on the phone, it aways continues from whatever was playing at the time the car was shut off which in this case was Orbitals “Transient”. This happens pretty much every time I stop the car and get near it sometime soon afterwards, I’ll get you the next time and track info.
The phone is set up to only route phone calls to the Avantree and that always is respected. I’ll check the Avantree connection the next time I’m in the car but even if it is set to auto that should not be used for ARC since media isn’t routed to the Avantree?
Thanks for the clarity! My apologies if this has been glazed over already, but are you able to replicate this issue using another music player app, like the Qobuz app?
I’d be curious to see if clearing the Bluetooth cache and resetting the Bluetooth settings on the mobile device may help:
Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Tap 3 dots (top right) > Show System > Bluetooth > Clear cache.
To reset the app preferences and Bluetooth settings:
Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset app preferences, Bluetooth & Wi-Fi.
The problem does not occur with VLC, or PowerAmp. It continues to happen after clearing cache, deleting and resetting the blue tooth connection, and after resetting the app settings, and has occurred on two different phones (Pixel 8 and 9) immediately after setting up the new phone.
If we determine that ARC is mishandling playback commands from the operating system, we’ll ticket this with development immediately. But first need to clarify one piece of information that remains murky, so please pardon the redundancy.
Is this option presented on either phone? The BT autoplay command sequence generally proceeds from Device → Android operating system → app, so we need full clarity on the particular settings applied to this device. Different speakers might have different default settings.
Afraid it did not help. Happened last night away from the house and again this morning at the house: 2024-09-14 08:29 Mandinka from Sinead O’conners eponymous album
