Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. Based on your description, it sounds like ARC’s port forwarding may not be working correctly. If you head to Settings → Roon ARC, do you see an error message there?
There are two ways you can resolve this:
1. Use Tailscale with ARC (Recommended)
Many users find this to be the simplest and most reliable method. You can follow the steps in this guide to get started.
2. Set Up Manual Port Forwarding
If you prefer, you can configure port forwarding manually. Details are available in this article.
Let us know how it goes or if you’d like help with either approach!
Thanks. I did set up manual part forwarding when Arc first launched and it has worked almost perfectly ever since - through a house move, a change of mobile phone provider and a change of phone. Nothing has been changed in the settings (at least until I started to try and fix it). It’s simply that about a week ago it stopped working.
Based on the screenshot you attached, the port forwarding rule appears to be configured using the hostname. Could you kindly confirm whether the IP address assigned to your Mac is static and if it has remained unchanged since ARC stopped working outside your home?
I have had my mobile provider (Three UK) check my connection and have checked - video and audio streaming including Apple Music, YouTube Music and BBC iPlayer - and everything else seems to be working okay.
Is the behavior the same if you try to delete and reinstall the Roon ARC app? The settings page does suggest that port forwarding is working properly, so it’s odd you can’t connect.
