Description of Issue

I am currently travelling internationally. Before I left home 2 weeks ago, I downloaded some playlists on to both my Android phone and my iPhone to listen to via Roon Arc while I was travelling. This was working fine until 2 days ago when the Roon Arc apps on both my devices suddenly stopped working. When I then go back into the apps they try and access my Nucleus+, which they are unable to do as I’ve so far been unable to get this configured for remote access. As such, despite having music on both phones in the apps, I am unable to access them and play them. Does this mean, that these apps are essentially useless until I get back home in 3 weeks and am able to access the Nucleus+? Surely, there must be something I am missing.

Is there anyone at home who can check to see if the Nucleus is still running?

Not really. My 90-year old mother is looking after the house but she is very tech unsavvy and wouldn’t know what to do.

International travel with ARC has not been a problem for me. So unfortunately, I think that the problem must be your Nucleus or some network issue. Could be some update, maybe even on your router to which the Nucleus is connected?! Maybe you can access that remotely.

Sorry for your loss! :pensive:
Being on the road without most of my music would be agonizing to me as well.

Thanks. What I don’t understand though is if I have successfully downloaded music onto my phone and it was playing ok in offline mode, why should a problem with the Nucleus at home affect this since my Roon ARC cannot connect with the Nucleus away from home in the first place?

I am no expert, but have you tried resetting ARC? Unfortunately, this will probably remove your downloads, but since they don’t work anyway…
Sometimes I have to reset after updates for iOS.

If the app updated whilst you’re away and core hasn’t. I have had it stop playing the local downloads. It needs to get a sync after an update for some reason perhaps to authenticate your account but it’s annoying and they are not usable until it can connect again. One of the reasons I have given up on downloads more hassle than it’s worth until they sort it out.

Thanks for the replies. So it seems that although Roon is great at home, I need to think about a different solution for when travelling, which is highly irritating.

I bought a used Apple Mac Mini for US$200 and use it with Splashtop to manage my Nucleus when away from home. If there is a problem I can’t solve with the Mac Mini, then I use Apple Music.
