Roon ARC through ASUS RT-AC68U

Roon Core Machine

Core works OK, ARC test returns the following data:
{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“91.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“192.168.0.1”,“found_upnp”:true,“error”:“doaction request return statuscode: UnknownError”}
}

All suggestions re ASUS routers already applied.

Have you tried turning off UPNP on the router and adding the Port Forwarding Rule manually?

Heya.

I own the exact same router as you do. Mine is connected to my ISP’s media box through Ethernet. The ASUS handles all the local network connections.

I’ve ended up disabling UPNP on both routers and added manual forwarding rules on each of them. Roon ARC has been working perfectly fine ever since.

This is the forwarding rule in my ASUS router. The port number and IP address is what my Roon Core is using.

The source IP field needs to remain empty.

Yes, I tried with both OFF and ON (manual port forwarding present in either case) and it didn’t work

It seems that I have exactly the same config. Disabling UPNP resulted with different response (upnp auto config not found msg within diag data) but still no connection possible.
{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“91.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”}
}

How is your manual port forwarding configured?

Your ISP’s router should have a port forwarding to your ASUS router. Your ASUS router should then have a port forwarding rule to your Roon Core.

These are the full settings of my network configuration.

The Ziggo one is from my ISP. The listed IP address is the address my ASUS router receives from my ISP router. Port number forwarding is 55000 what Roon uses here.

ASUS is similar in the forwarding rule. Only this time the IP address is what my Mac Mini (Roon Core) receives from the ASUS.

Hi, seems that this is ISP config issue. I will contact them Mon, as I have no access to their devices.
