Describe the issue

Roon ARC will not be able to access your roon server.

Describe your network setup

Before (First Setup).
My internet connection: Fiber
My Router: eLife Connect C1AA - WRV9518BHAX34-ET. It was working fine until my internet connection contract was finished.

Currently/Presently (Second Setup). I'm using HUAWEI 5G CPE, Model: H112-372 as a source of internet. I disabled the wireless/wifi of this router and I use utp cable to connect from LAN1 going to the LAN1 of the eLife Connect C1AA (configured as switch). I directly connect my Intel NUC roon server to the Router eLife Connect C1AA through UTP or Ethernet Cable. And all my roon remote devices was also connected on the same router using wired/wireless connection. It's working well using roon remote app and ARC on the same network. But if I'm out of that network I'm using other network or mobile data I cannot access roon server.

I followed all the steps provided in START TROUBLESHOOTING but still didn’t work.

@Jamesbal, you state that you have a fiber connection but the Huawei router is a 5G broadband router as your Internet connection. Can you please explain your network configuration in more detail? It is unclear what devices are connected to the WAN (Internet) connection and what is in your LAN (home) network.

Also, can you provide more information about this comment:

specifically “the other network” statement.

Thank you Sir Robert for the support.

Before, my internet connection is fiber using the router eLife Connect C1AA, until the time came that the contract is finished. Meaning, it’s already terminated or disconnected, in short is no more fiber internet at all.

So after a few days I decided to apply new internet plan which is 5G Broadband using HUAWEI 5G CPE H112-372 this is the WAN (Internet source). The LAN1 port of this broadband is connected to the LAN1 port of the router eLife Connect C1AA (this router I configure as network Switch) this is the LAN (Home Network)

But if I’m out of that network I’m using other network or mobile data I cannot access roon server.

Meaning to say, If my phone (roon remote) is not connected in the same home wifi network, the roon ARC cannot access roon server.

the other network.

Meaning to say, if i will switch off my wifi connection to my home network and I’m using mobile data OR I will connect the wifi of my neighbors. I cannot access my roon server using roon ARC. Please look at my attached screenshots.

@Jamesbal, thank you. Who is your mobile provider? Most mobile service providers use CG-NAT to share one IPv4 address to multiple subscribers, and CG-NAT does not work with Roon ARC currently.

If you continue to have problems, you may want to try Tailscale, a VPN service that Roon recommends in situations such as yours. I have a different issue with ARC but Tailscale solved my problem and ARC works flawlessly now.

Yes!!! Thanks again sir Robert for the solution you shared. I installed the Tailscale in my windows pc and also in my iPhone (roon remote). Now I can access my Roon Server out of my home wifi network. But there’s a little or may be huge downside, we need to continue power On the Windows PC to continue running the Tailscale…

I have something to suggest to the roon software expert to find ways of the following;

  1. It should be better to use only one App to access the Roon Server, the Roon Remote. This app should access both local network and cloud even the ISP use CG-NAT or something like that. (Just like Amazon Alexa). No need to use Roon ARC, it’s not good to have more apps in our phone.

  2. If Roon Software Expert still want to use Roon ARC, they should also find ways to work it in CG-NAT because we are many subscribers using 5G Broadband. Better they will develop Tailscale or something like this that we can install or integrate to Roon ROCK.

@Jamesbal, glad Tailscale is working for you. The ARC app uses a different architecture than the Roon Remote app per some information provided by Roon when ARC was released. There may be a converged app at some point in the future but Roon has not committed to anything publicly.
