You can try backing up to the internal storage of the Grimm MU2, but we would still recommend using a dedicated backup location somewhere else on your local network whenever possible.
If you don’t have a NAS, the best option would be to create a shared SMB folder on a computer on your network and use that as the backup destination in Roon. You can then run backups manually to that shared folder when needed.
This way, your backup is stored separately from the Roon Server device itself, which is generally safer in case the device or its internal storage ever has a problem.
Do not back up to the internal drive of the Grimm. If the internal storage fails, you’ve got nothing. Offline backups are the best.
I back up to my MacBook Pro. Somewhere in this forum, I posted detailed instructions for mastering the syntax and semantics of backing up to a Mac using the SMB-bladdity-bladdity-blah. Perhaps someone here more adroit at finding old posts could dig that up?
