Description of Issue
So lately (since the last WiiM firmware update perhaps?) my WiiM Pro Roon endpoint has been disappearing from available Roon audio devices. When the WiiM Pro dissapears from Roon, network connectivity (both WiFI and Ethernet) is maintained, all other streaming functions work, including Airplay from Roon. It is just the âRoon Readyâ WimM Pro audio device that disappears (seemingly randomly). A reboot of the WiiM Pro brings the endpoint back and visible from within Roon. I performed a âRestore Factory Settingsâ to the WiiM Pro no change. I have however now found a pattern to the issue and can replicate it. Every time a Roon backup runs (in my case every 4 days) the WiiM Pro Roon Ready Audio device disappears from Roon and requires a reboot to make it visible again.
This issue does not affect any of the other Roon endpoints I have (Raspberry Pi4/Ropiee, NAD CS1 etc.) Only the WiiM Pro.
Brand new Wiim Pro which disappeared from Roon but seen as Chromecast and Airplay device. Power On/Off and is Roon available device.
Apparently not an isolated incident.
So a scheduled Roon backup ran at 2am PST today, and like clockwork the WiiM Pro disappeared again from available Roon endpoint devices (still shows as an AIrPlay device, pingable on the network, accessible from the WiiM app etc.).
Roon @support, any additional information required?
Thanks for writing in! @Wakajazz thanks for sharing that timestamp, we were able to review a fresh diagnostic report from your core, and see the exact thing you describe in your report.
With that, weâre not seeing any errors or anomalies that may cause this disconnect. I do see some interesting behavior with the WiiM Pro trying to connect via Chromecast and failing. You could try temporarily disabling this as an input option and see if your issue persists.
Weâll have our development team take a closer look at this as well. In the meantime, letâs do a refresh of your RAATServer database just to make sure weâre running on a clean slate while troubleshooting.
You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings â Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:
Thanks @Benjamin, followed your instructions. Chromecast was not enabled on the WiiM Pro, however I performed a factory reset to be sure.
Running on a new RAATServer instance now. Performed a full restart on the Nucleus after renaming the RAATServer folder and the RoonServer start/stop, just to be sure.
Hey @benjamin, quick update. Since applying the above procedures, the WiiM Pro has remained solidly connected to Roon Core having survived multiple scheduled updates over the past week.
The only other change that I was made aware of is that a firmware update (4.8.526344) had applied to the device during this time. The release notes include " * Fixed - Occasional crash issues for AirPlay 2 and Roon Ready".
