Ui features sometimes take 30 seconds to take effect. Starting playback can take a minute. It’s just unusable. I have Rock on i9, wired 1gbps, 350mbps internet, 32gb ram, 20k albums/200k tracks almost all qobuz.
What do you mean?delete the library I spent years to put together?
Nope. As a test, you can simply click the Disable link in
> Services > Qobuz > Edit to disable the Qobuz integration temporarily. Afterwards, simply click the Enable link to reconnect to Qobuz
@Mark_Sealey - the link you posted is not valid for Qobuz items; there’s a better way to test whether the issue is being caused by the Qobuz integration.
Ok I can try that. I have only a handful of albums outside Qobuz so I suspect it will be very fast with just a few. My suspicion is that the library size is the main issue, but I can’t reduce it due to this
Hi @phi4,
That is quite an impressive library! Chances are, your performance issues are likely tied to this, especially when considering how often Qobuz changes or updates tracks within their library.
Could you please safely stop Roon Server from running, and then reboot the machine?
After that, let’s see if clearing your Roon Server cache may help:
- Exit out of Roon
- Stop RoonServer via the Web UI
- Find and open your Roon database
- Navigate to
RoonServer/Cache - Move the contents of the
/Cachefolder elsewhere, like your desktop - Try restarting Roon and verify if the issue still occurs
We’ll be on standby for your results. ![]()
Of course; thanks for the correction, Geoff!
Thanks for your response. I just started following your instructions, but then suddenly realized Roon is actually as responsive as before and pretty fast! Not sure I have an explanation for this, but I did one thing yesterday. I attempted to reduce my library size (honestly want to do this), so I deleted like 7000 albums. Again it seems like those got added back in the course of several hours (I had experienced this before: Roon Slow; Deleted Qobuz Albums, but they get Re-Added), and now it’s back to 21k albums. Could it be that this sort of re-indexed the database or something and it got fast again as a result?
given that its performance is acceptable at the moment, do you recommend I still follow through your instructions?
Hi @phi4,
If Roon is performing as expected then there’s no need to continue following those steps. I’ll mark this as solved but the thread will remain open for a couple more days in case the problem reemerges.
