Roon becoming unstable over the last 4 weeks

I mainly stream from Tidal

Description of Issue

I reported an issue about a month ago whereby Roon was not allowing me to play streamed content of tracks from my NAS drive. Although strongly it does allow mw to browse my libraries , both NAS and Tidal.
The solution was to log out/disconnect my account, restart my computer and log in again.

This has now happened 3 or 4 more times and is quite annoying. The previous 12 months prior to this has been seamless, what’s changed?

Thanks,

Richard

Could you post a link to this? Your last posts appear to have been in February when you reported an issue with your NDX.

Also, please specify the make and model of your NAS. Thanks.

Ah, I see that you have two accounts in the forum. You really should just have the one. Which one do you want to keep?

Let’s keep this one please

NAS is Synology DS220

@Geoff_Coupe was it this multiple account thing that’s been causing the problem?

Cheers,

Richard

TBH, I don’t know…

Is there anyone else I should report this to?

TIA,
Richard

Your support request is in the Support team’s queue. They will respond when your request reaches the head of their queue.

I’d say this would only happen when your accounts on the forum are the same as with which you log into Roon server on your nas.
For security reasons, this is not advisable.

Hello @Richard_Horsley ,

Thanks for reaching out. To make sure I understand you correctly here, you are saying that only the NAS is affected by this playback issue, but streaming content such as TIDAL is working as expected?

How is the NAS set up in Roon, are you using Hostname or IP Address connection type? If you are using Hostname, can you try to use IP Address instead? It is also helpful to set up Reserved IP in your router settings, to ensure that the IP of the NAS will not change in the future.

If this suggestion still does not help, can you please use these instructions to access your RoonServer logs, upload a set to the below link, and let me know? Thanks!

Hello noris.

No, it affects both NAS and Tidal.
I have no idea how my NAS is setup… if you tell me how to check this I will take a look.

I should mention that this has happened again since I posted this request for assistance.

I have uploaded the requested logs to the Log Server in the name Richard Horsley - there are 2 files.

Thanks,

Richard

There were a couple of typos in my original Description which I’ve amended here

Hi Noris…

The problem has happened again this morning… HAs anyone been able to look win to the logs I provided?

Thanks,

Richard

I tried to disconnect and restart roon and it just hangs…

I then have to reboot my Mac and Roon will then sign in… and I’m able to play Music.

My Subscription is due to renew in Feb… If we can’t resolve this I’ll be cancelling…

Hi @Richard_Horsley,

Ben with the support team stepping in - I wanted to check in on your issue and see if you were still running into connection issues?

I’ll be monitoring this thread for your reply. :+1:

Hi Ben,

I managed to re-install the software and its been stable since then…

Richard
