· My library isn’t working correctly (local/streaming, importing, or storage access)
Describe the issue
I switched the password on my NAS, Roon sees the IP address but does not "find" the drive. Remove does not remove the drive - I thought I could just start over. (Everything worked fine before I change PW)
What happens if you change the NAS password back to what it was, remove the NAS from Roon, then change the NAS password and then add the NAS back to Roon?
Since the issue started right after changing the NAS password it points to an authentication mismatch between Roon and your NAS. Roon may still be holding on to the old credentials internally.
Here’s what I suggest trying:
Change the NAS password back to the previous one.
Remove the NAS storage path from Roon completely.
If the entry doesn’t disappear right away, restart RoonServer after removing it.
Once the NAS is removed and Roon shows no storage entry, change the NAS password again to the new one you want to use.
Add the NAS back into Roon using the new password and ensure the correct username/password are entered.
This forces Roon to clear out any cached credentials and re-authenticate cleanly with the updated details.
If this still doesn’t work let us know please and we’ll dive deeper.
Thanks Mr Fibble and alex_h: I’m back and running with my new NAS. I hard reset (unplugged) my Nucleus, I was then able delete the NAS as a storage location. I was then able to add the NAS share as my storage device with the new PW.
I also deleted the old NAS that was a duplicate. I hoped to use it as a backup, but read that duplicate files might confuse the Nucleus. Embarrassingly, it took me a few times to connect, as I had written the wrong user in my PW manager. Once I looked at the NAS, I figured that out and it went smoothly from there.
I must say that it should be easy to change the storage PW re. Roon. Good security practice is to occasionally change PWs. Roon should seamlessly accommodate that. Perhaps a future fix?
