Describe the issue

system was working fine, was listening to music , then suddenly roon can't find optical rendu. tried everything. unplugged, uninstalled antivirus, and roon, rendu is connected to sonictransporter. pc can't connect to sonictransporter in mysonicorbiter.com. I get message: This site can’t be reached
192.168.1.185 took too long to respond.tried unplugging and restarting everything. feeling like shooting myself. working on this for hours now. Help! Rick [Moderator Removed Private Information]

Describe your network setup

spectrum wifi 6 router to ethernet switch box, sonic transporter to ethernet switch box, fiber optic from switch box to optical rendu, usb to xduoo dac. all worked fine for 2 weeks until yesterday I went from approx 3,500 albums to zero and then to one album

Remove the Optical Rendu from the chain and see if it works.

thanks but didn’t work. starting yesterday out of the blue, I get this message when I go to manage sonictransporter:
This site can’t be reached
192.168.1.185 took too long to respond.
I’m not a tech wiz so I don’t know how the connections should be if I take the rendu out of the chain. I have the transporter, the rendu, my pc, and a dac/headphone amp. Roon also only offers to connect to my pc as a server. It doesn’t see the rendu or the transporter. I will Zelle you a fee if you are willing to talk to me. I have ripped 2,000 cds over the last month and the library says I have zero albums.

Hi Rick,

You should not post private information like email addresses or phone numbers on a forum. If you want to share that, you should do it in a private message to the other person.

Cheers,
Daniel

From what I understand you have a switch with the sonic transporter and the rendu plugged in. Is the PC also plugged into this switch? If not, then plug it into the switch and see if it can then reach the transporter.

thanks for your reply. my pc doesn’t have an ethernet plug. the switch box is ethernet

So, it is WiFi only? If that is the case, then it might have gotten itself onto a different network subnet, does the PC’s IP address starting with 192.168.1?

Yes, that’s what the ip starts with. I’m starting to think there is something wrong with the sonictransporter. I may have to send it in for repair

If you can’t reach it directly, then that follows Roon couldn’t reach it either. I do think that calling/getting in touch, with sonic transporter manufacturer is a good next step.

Thanks for your help. Sent the sonictransporter and optical rendu off to small green computer for repair.

Hi @rick_janov,

We can confirm that this SonicTransporter hasn’t been visible to our servers in at least four days. In the meantime, it appears you’ve migrated your RoonServer instance to another machine. Is this temporary setup functioning for you?

Thanks for writing, I have sent the transporter and rendu to small green computer for repair. I have no other setup going, I’m waiting for the gear to be repaired and hopefully my 3,500 albums are still there!

Hey @rick_janov,

It does look like you have an instance of Roon and Roon Server running on your windows 10 - that’s a solid temporary setup to use Roon while you wait.

If you have any saved backups, you can restore them on your temporary Roon setup on the windows. Connect your backup location to your windows machine, and head to Roon Settings>Backup>Find Backups>Browse and select your backup folder. :+1:
