Description of Issue

Hey! After last update, will provide version number when I get home, my Rme Fireface Ucx won’t show up in audio devices in ROON. Or rather, it shows up for a fraction of a second, then dissappears. I see all the outputs from the UCX this short time. Its connected via usb, and it works with other clients, i. e Youtube, Qobuz etc. It also shows up in win dev list. Same problem when switching to a laptop running the same version of ROON.

Build 1272 version 2.0

@Eyvind_Bogstrand, have you rebooted your Roon Core and Remotes? I had a similar issue with a Focusrite USB interface connected to a W11 Remote that was resolved when I rebooted all my devices.

Hi, Robert.

Thanks!
Yes, have tried this to no avail. Also reinstalled core but not remotes. I’m thinking it might have to do with some firewall settings, but haven’t gotten it to work yet.

Eyvind

Typically the firewall issue would not present the interface as an option in Roon and then have it disappear. That said, have you confirmed that you have firewall setting exceptions set to allow roon.exe and raatserver.exe on your PC? Is the RME seen in Windows independent of Roon, and can you play to it outside of Roon?

Yep, the UCX is seen in Windows independent of ROON and I can play to it from other clients.

Sorry, and yes, they are set in firewall exceptions

Are you running the latest RME driver, 1.243, released on May 4?

Pull the power to the rme and also pull the usb cable out as sometimes the power is still supplied to the interface via the pc’s usb and thus it’s not reset. Leave it disconnected for a few minutes then plug back in again

Hey! Sorry, I didn’t know ticking that square meant “solved”. It’s not working yet. I’ve tried all of the suggestions, still no luck. And I have the latest drivers.

Eyvind

Sorry to hear you are still having issues. Do you need to use the ASIO driver, or can the WASAPI driver be a solution?

Let me know if you find a solution. I’ve got the exact same issue with my DAC (Motu 8a). it does not get listed in the audio devices; although every few seconds, it’ll flash for a second and then it disappears.
I also run Roon on a NUC. I use Audiolense convolver. Do use that to? Just trying to see what our systems have in common.

Robert, Omid, The Wiz.

Thanks guys!

Well , both the wasapi and asio drivers are included in the driver bundle install. The point is I can’t choose any of them, because of this “connection issue”

Sounds like we’ve got the exact same issue, Omid; it flashes here too. I also use Audiolense convolver, and Bernt (Audiolense) is slightly aware of the issue. Maybe I’ll try de- and reinstalling the convolver just to see if that has anything to do with it. I’ll keep you updated here.

Just to mention this: this setup (identical) worked flawlessly before update 1272

Eyvind

Ok!

I now have access to the UCX in ROON. I uninstalled both the Audiolense convolver (1.7) and Audiolense (6.17). So at least I now can play direct through the UCX. Light in the tunnel now, I’m doing some research into this, and keep you updated here, also if it’s being solved to my satisfaction. Omid, then maybe it will work for you too, to uninstall and reinstall either the convolver or Audiolense, or both. Good luck!

Awesome. I uninstalled audiolense convolver 1.7 and everything works now. I’ll let Bernt know. I’ll just use Roon’s convolver for running my audiolense DSP filter.
Thank you so much for the suggestion. I missed playing music and my good system !
