Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· I'm getting messages saying "Roon fatal error, Roon not compatible with this device". I'm running Windows 11 on a PC. Roon seems to think I'm running Windows 8. I can't uninstall Roon as it says it's already running.

Your reading of the message is right. Roon checks the Windows version when it starts, and on your machine that check is coming back as Windows 8 rather than Windows 11, which is what triggers the compatibility error.

You are on 2.65 (build 1653). The current version is 2.71 (build 1683), so getting onto that is the first thing to try.

The uninstall is blocked because a Roon process is still running. To clear it:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Open the Details tab.
  3. End every process whose name starts with Roon, for example Roon.exe, RoonServer.exe and RoonAppliance.exe.
  4. Uninstall Roon as normal.
  5. Download and install the current version from our downloads page.

Hi Vadim, Thanks for the quick reply and good advice. Roon is working fine on my PC now. Charles
