Roon connection failure (ref#13UOA3)

Is Roon Server running?

· No, Roon Server is not running.

For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.

· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.

Describe the issue

Roon will not connect

Describe your network setup

I have a Small Green Computer I-9 transporter computer and the signature Sonora Rendu server and it is turned on in the proper sequence. Both units are on and show their operational

Cloudflare was having issues that were affecting the servers.

You might try rebooting your network and your server and see if it comes back up.

Cloudflare says they implemented a “fix” but I do not know how long cloudflare expects it to take for the “fix” to propagate through the entire internet so you may be in an area that has yet to be fixed?

Do you think this cloud fare issue will causing tidal (inside Roon) audio dropout issues?

For past few days I have been facing this issue music stopped and skip to next song with error “Loading slowly…”.

It’s possible? But I do not know for sure.
Typically the loading slow is an internal network issue.
Did you try through the Tidal app at all? If it was on Tidals side you would probably see it there?
I would look at your network first to see if there is any issue. Are the endpoints all wired? If they are wireless is there WiFi congestion or interference? Are they all updated? Is the server machine running fine? (if its a NUC or Nucleus when was the last time to you cleaned the heat sinks and fans?) ect.

Hello @Steven_Rabitz .

Can you please access you Sonic Transporter web interface and check to see if the RoonServer app is running? According to our diagnostics, the unit hasn’t been active in over a week.

@Ringo_Law - Please open a seperate thread if you wish to troubelshoot your specific issue:

Yes, I have done most of the things I can think off:

  1. Tried Tidal app, no issue
  2. Tried different switch, same issue (I’m using LAN)
  3. Tried different cables, same issue
  4. Tried router direct connect, same issue
  5. I tried connecting using WiFi, same issue
  6. Restart everything, same issue

My NUC is just 4~5months old, was previously using another NUC for more than 5yrs and never encountered this kind of issue. After I changed to this new NUC and everything still working fine until past few days.

I really hope this is the Cloudfare outage that causing the problem and it can be fixed as soon as possible. I will continue to monitor if it is still happen and if still continue, I will open a new thread for troubleshooting.

Did you try logging out of tidal in Roon then logging back in?

You might also: Try changing the Tidal stream quality (I don’t have Tidal anymore but I believe it’s on the settings/services page as a drop down?)

Are you using ROCK on the NUC?
The last thing to try (after all else above) is to delete the Tidal DB and let ROCK OS recreate it:

  1. In your file explorer of choice go to the ROCK>data>RoonServer>Cache (the way you get there will be different depending on your OS)
  2. Once you are in the “cache” directory, delete the tidal.db entries (there may be more than one):

Then log out of tidal and log back in from the settings services page. Roon should recreate the DB. The see if the problem is still there.

I’m using ROCK on the NUC.

Actually, yesterday everything seems back to normal and without any issue for 3 hours. Anyway, I also did what you suggested (but it was after 3 hours when I saw this message).

I will how it goes later today and thanks for the advice.
