Describe the issue

Longtime Roon user running ROCK on an i3, connected via ethernet. I am a Comcast Xfinity user and just upgraded my modem. Now Roon gets knocked off my network regularly. I have gone through normal trouble shooting (restarting my network switch, server, Eero wifi, modem) and only restarting the modem resolves the problem. This is most impractical. Previously I had 99 percent plus uptime. BTW I'm in an urban setting and seeing 500+ megabit speeds down, 24 megabit up. Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

Describe your network setup

Xfinity modem to passive network switch via ethernet, to i3 Roon server via ethernet. All controllers are connected via WiFi

I am also having connectivity issues. I am to receive a replacement modem however that did not resolve the overall issue last time…I have been told it is a signal issue however the modem was replaced and at the time I was told the system was fine. I have tried manual port forwarding and that didn’t resolve the issue.

For clarity - are you also a Comcast Xfinity user?

Hello, yes I am

Additional information: I have several Bluesound devices running Roon. When I’m locked out of Roon, my Bluesound devices are also offline (the app shows just gray boxes where the info normally shows. When Roon is not working, I can still browse the web, get email, everything else connected to the internet seems to work just like normal.

That is interesting. Today before I opened the Roon server app I received the pop up window asking me to allow the app. The only option was to allow public Has anyone else run across this?

I think this is now solved. I logged into the modem dashboard and enabled “Bridge” mode - this turns off the wifi that comes with the modem. (I am running an Eero mesh system for my wifi). Behavior has returned to stable and the gremlins appear to have disappeared. For Xfinity customers:

Toggle Bridge Mode on and off

  1. Using a device connected to your home network, open a web browser and go to the Admin Tool at http://10.0.0.1.
  • If you’re disabling bridge mode, this device must be connected to your gateway with an Ethernet cable.
  1. Enter the default username and default password:
  • Username: admin
  • Password: password (case sensitive)

Then enable Bridge mode.
