Hi everyone,

I’m a Roon user with a fairly resolving setup (Borresen X3 speakers + Axxess Forte 2).
Occasionally, I notice that when something goes wrong — maybe a stream hiccup or network buffer issue — Roon continues to play audio, but what comes out is heavy distortion.

The odd thing is:
• The distortion doesn’t resolve itself.
• It goes on indefinitely until I manually stop playback.
• This makes it risky if I’m not around while music is playing.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it expected behavior?

It would be reassuring to know whether this is just a rare case or a general issue — and maybe something the dev team could eventually address.

  • Are you using any Digital Signal Processing (DSP) when the distortion occurs?

  • How long do the tracks play before the distortion starts?

  • Does the distortion occur with both local and streaming tracks?

  • Can you provide examples of tracks where this has happened? If any of them are local files, please share one with us using this uploader:

Lastly, could you let us know the date, time, and track that is playing the next time the distortion occurs? This will help us match your report to the logs and narrow down the cause.

We wanted to check in on this thread and see if you’ve been able to test out Daniel’s reply above?

Does this happen no matter the endpont / zone?

How are the Borresen and Forte devices connected to your router / server? Are you able to test out hardwiring them / different cables / different ports, and see if the same issue occurs?
