Description Of Issue

Sometimes it’s a little slow. Still works though.
I have my Roon Core on my NAS but I remember seeing an article about setting up the qnap with a flash drive inserted in the NAS with the core on it and having the NAS run it this way rather than on the nas itself. I cannot find the article to save my life. Do you happen to know of this article or a guide to help me set up this way.
Thank you.

You can’t install Roon onto a USB key. You can install Roon on the QNAP and then move the database to an SSD. See:

Hey @John_Berry,

Thanks for reaching out when trying to set up Roon. @Rugby’s input is perfectly correct. Alongside the resource he’s shared, you can also take a look at our article on running Roon on a NAS:

This should clarify things a bit more, but, if you run into issues, please, reply on this thread.

I installed the flash drive and copied all the Roon files over to it. Reset the “database location” to the flash drive. It couldn’t connect. Although it showed all Roon files were there. I tried to go back to the way I had it. Now it won’t connect to the way I had it before.

I got it working with the previous way I had it running. I still don’t know why it would connect using the flash drive.

Correction. It does NOT work with the flash drive. It will not connect using the flash drive even though the files are on it.
