Describe the issue

Just got Ubuntu Server Running Roon Server to connect to first device direct plug. Multi Naim, Devialet, BlueOS, NAD "Roon Ready" endpoints do not connect above Airplay sample rates.

Describe your network setup

Apple HomeKit Linksys Router with 8 mesh, WPA3. I had to install an Amplifi WPA2 to connect. All settings besides that set best for multicast and Mbonjour

Welcome to the Roon community, @hencrypted
I note that the AirPlay devices aren’t enabled in the screenshot. I assume you have enabled the Roon Ready devices. If so, please share another screenshot of the Signal Path as this will help us to understand what is happening.

Hello @hencrypted,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support.

To better understand the issue, could you confirm the following:

 • In Settings → Audio, do you see your Naim, Devialet, BlueOS, or NAD devices listed, aside from the AirPlay options?
 • If they appear, are they enabled and properly configured?
 • Could you provide a screenshot of the signal path when playing to one of the affected devices? This will help us determine how Roon is handling playback.
Additionally, please check if IGMP Snooping is enabled on your Linksys router. This setting helps ensure proper multicast traffic, which is essential for Roon Ready device discovery.

Let us know what you find, and feel free to upload the signal path screenshot so we can assist further.

It is a Linksys MX4200 Velop router (Apple Secure Home-kit Router,) no IGMP snooping option but I did not Filter Multicast, nothing plays thru Roon besides my Bang and Olufson Beolab 90s ALSA plugged in by USB 2.0 from Ubuntu Server Pro running Roon Core on a NUC 11 configured properly . That did not even work until I installed Roon Bridge on Roon Core and plugged in directly. Would not work through a Mutec 3+ or RME A/D Pro SE.

I can play Quboz thru Naim app directly but no Roon option in settings and iy shows playing in Roon app but no sound coming out like in picture below on all Roon Ready Devices . Also ONLY Airplay which is my main reason to use Roon–>for better resolution.

I also did put an Amplifi router in Bridge mode to use WPA2 and it made no difference for Naim Mu So, Naim Uniti Atom, Beosound Core, Devialet Phantom 108dB, but the Bluesound Powernodes to wired speaker have no problem receiving Roon but only play in Airplay 44Khzfrom Quboz HiRes.

Please advise before I have to fill or kill subscription, I have a 2 month trial code from Naim to keep trying if you will let me apply it.

Will subscribe lifetime if we can solve this.

Thx!!

You are connected to the Mu-so using AirPlay, the signal path is correct in this regard.

Please confirm the above–sharing a screenshot of enabled devices. But note the original Mu-so isn’t Roon Ready.

No they ONLY appear under “Other Network Devices,” All apple TVs and Homepods appear under the correct section along with Bluesound Powernodes. To confirm: Naim Mu So Bentley Edition is NOT Roon Ready? Any ideas to test besides adding Roon Bridges to the devives connected ? USB i.e. Raspberry Pi

Hi @hencrypted ,

Thanks for letting us know. Since only the Airplay options appear, I suspect this could be an issue with the firewall blocking Roon from discovering Roon Ready devices on the network. I noticed you also have a Mac registered to your account, is the behavior the same if you try to temporarily host the Roon Server on that device by going to Roon Settings → General → Disconnect → Use this PC as Server? If the issue only occurs on the Ubuntu device, I would suggest checking the Ubuntu firewall settings, the below thread can help:

Yes, UFW rules were blocking on Linux Server running Core. Solved and Lifetime Subscribed.
