Describe the issue

It appears our roon core has defected. It no longer pings at the static ip it was configured at. The MAC address does not show up to the corresponding network port. Please advise on a hardware reset

Describe your network setup

firewall with managed switches

It looks like the ip address that you are trying to ping (192.168.123.20) is in a different subnet to the machine from which you are pinging it (which has an ip address of 192.168.111.1).

Have you changed your router or changed the LAN configuration of your router - particularly the ip address?

If so, you will want to reset the networking on your Nucleus so that it reverts to DHCP. You will then be able to set a new static ip address (or better, create a DHCP reservation for your Nucleus in the router).

This help centre article explains how to reset the networking on your Nucleus:

As an alternative to this, you could set the router’s ip address back to what is was likely to be before the change (likely either 192.168.123.1 or 192.168.123.254 - either would work) and then reboot (or otherwise reset the networking of) all DHCP clients on you network - particularly your Windows computer and any networked attached Roon endpoints. This is likely to be your easiest method if you have other devices assigned a static ip address in the 192.168.123.0/24 subnet.

I am on a management vlan that can access all vlans. We decided to replace the unit with a mac mini to get our displays working again. Thanks for your response.

Hi @mark_rubin1,

Thank you for your post. Your account indicates that you’re associated with the Roon dealer network - I strongly recommend reaching out directly to Dealer Support on this case.

The team will request a photo of either the RoonOS web admin or the BIOS output on an HDMI monitor from this unit. Thank you!
