Roon cutting off end of songs

Hello Roon - this happens fairly frequently, whether using Radio or the library - the last few seconds of a song will get off. The last posts on this topic were in '21 - no conclusive answer, some tips.

System: Roon core running on a Synology Disk Station, DSM 720+, software version DSM7.2.1. Using SSD for Roon core, library has 11,000 tracks on standard HDD, and Tidal is streaming service. System is very stable.

Any settings tips? Cross-fade is off.

@Christopher_Peterse1, welcome to the Community. A fellow user here, and I do not have or use a Disk Station. However, the specificiations of the DSM 720+ are below the minimum that Roon recommends for running Roon Server:

You possibly may be running out of RAM or CPU cycles depending on how large your database (not necessarily your library) is. How is your 720+ connecte to your network, and what is the signal path of what you are playing when it drops the end of songs?

Hello Robert F -
The 720+ is hardwired directly to the router; however the Roon endpoint being used was a Sonos pair of speakers, so wifi. I do have a SoTM Neo endpoint in another setup, this is hardwired, Can also listen there to see if issue persists. Scene shot of signal path attached.

Try changing from SonosNet to AirPlay, see if it makes a difference.

@Christopher_Peterse1, also see if turning off PEQ helps. PEQ is using additional CPU resources that may be limited by the 720.

Thanks all - here are the results:

  1. Sonos system is running on Wifi, not SonosNet (M1 vs M0 if you are familiar with Sonos settings). This is new as we are in a new home with a new wifi and I don’t have as many hardwired ethernet ports thru the house (yet). So no Sonos Boost as used before. All Sonos S2 products.
  1. Switching to Airplay for Sonos devices resolved the issue.

  2. Using ‘Muse’ (simple low-shelf filter) does not degrade performance. so all good.
