Roon disconnects when Zone 2 is activated on Onkyo TX-RZ50 (ref#YEXKJL)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· I am running Roon with an Onkyo TX-RZ50 receiver. I use the Roon Nucleus as my Roon server. I believe the Onkyo is Roon Tested but not Roon Ready. It works fine on Main but whenever I turn on my Zone 2 speakers, Roon disconnects. I have tried everything mentioned on the internet, tried Wholehouse button, tried different settings on the Onkyo, tried to use Airplay instead of Chrome, tried many other things. Roon just will not play on Zone 2. I can play Spotify and other things on Zone 2 just fine. These are wired speakers that I use outdoors. I really want to play Roon and Tidal outside in Zone 2 with Roon! I feel like the investment in the Nucleus was a waste as I cannot even listen to it outside in Zone 2.

Hi @Gary_Hamrick,

Thank you for your post.

We’ll need some additional information in order to effectively investigate here.

Can you please provide the following at your convenience?

First off, simply open Roon and reproduce the issue. Note the track that was playing when you experienced the disconnect. We’ve requested diagnostic logging that should capture the full event, and it will upload automatically.

Next, please share a screenshot of the Device Setup page for this Zone in Roon Settings → Audio. Do you have this channel layout configured to stereo or 5.1/7.1?

Specifically, we need to know the configuration for Multichannel Mixing at the bottom of the dialog window.

We’ll watch for your reply. Thank you!

Hi @Gary_Hamrick,

Were you able to reproduce the disconnect in Roon, note the track that was playing when it happened, and share a screenshot of the Device Setup page for that zone in Roon Settings → Audio?

We also need to know whether Multichannel Mixing is set up for stereo or 5.1/7.1, since that detail can help us narrow down the channel layout issue. If you can send those details, we can keep digging from there.

Please note, if we don’t hear back from you this thread may close automatically soon. If the thread auto-closes and you need further assistance, please submit a reopen support request via the technical support help form below and specify that the issue should be reopened. Thank you.

I will work on that. I am not home this week. I hope this thread can remain open until next week. Thank you.

I’ve extended the auto-close from 7 to 14 days.

Hello @Gary_Hamrick

Please keep us posted with any progress.
