Roon doesn't start anymore, can't uninstall or install again

Hi @Horacio_Lewinski,

My apologies for lack of clairty - The article I shared above was only meant to show you how to enable the proper share settings on the Windows side. You won’t want to add your backup folder to your Roon Storage settings as that is meant for your local library folders.

If the shared settings on the windows side are setup, I’d go back to your backup location and (after removing any backup locations from your Roon Storage) and confirm connection.

OK, I removed the backup folder from the Roon Storage and enabled access to everyone to the H:/backup folder. Still same issue when I attempt to restore. Feels like walking in circles…

How come Roon created a backup folder and it cannot access it now?

Hi @Horacio_Lewinski,

Thanks for the report! So to confirm, you’re able to access the folders and select the backup file, but then receive the failure message:

Are you able to temporarily move your backup folder to a different location, even your desktop, and see if the same issue perists?

With that, our team would like to review a copy of one of your backups, if you could please:

  1. Zip up your RoonBackups folder (right-click it and select “Compress…”):
  2. Submit the .zip file to us through our Database Issues portal

Thanks!

Indeed, this is what is happening.

Done: I copied the RoonBackups folder into C: root and restored from Roon. Got the exact same behavior / error message.

Done. I did submit this 19 days ago…let´s see if this time a solution is found.

Thanks @Horacio_Lewinski I’ve shared it with our development team for further inspection. :+1:

Hi @Horacio_Lewinski,

Thanks for your patience! Our QA team was able to further inspect the backups you’ve shared and reported that they are unfortunately broken files, and are unable to be restored at this time.

Do you by chance have any other backups saved, potentially to a different location?

You have my apologies here.
