Description of Issue
Roon doesn’t start up anymore just after installing latest update (build 1365).
Can I roll back to the previous version?
Do you mean that starting Roon Server doesn’t work, or starting Roon [GUI] doesn’t work or that Roon is saying that it is waiting for Roon Server or is it something else entirely?
When I double click on the roon.exe application file (or on the shortcut on my Windows desktop) there’s only the circle running for a little while and after that nothing happens at all.
Have you tried double-clicking on the Roon Server shortcut on your Desktop first before starting Roon?

I just did. The same as with the roon.exe doubleclick.
Does Windows Event Viewer show any issues with Roon or Roon Server?
Yes, sorry it’s in Dutch, maybe the XML makes things clear.

KERNELBASE.dll is a Windows system file. I suspect that your Windows installation has a problem.
For example:
Hi,
I’ve done steps 1 to 7 in de Kernelbase.dll Error Guide.
No malware found.
Systems restore to 02-02-2024.
Roon doesn’t start up.
The error message has changed.
Description: A .NET application failed.
Application: RAATServer.exe
Path: C:\Users\edw10\AppData\Local\Roon\Application\RAATServer.exe
Message: The application to execute does not exist: ‘C:\Users\edw10\AppData\Local\Roon\Application\200001359\RAATServer.dll’.
RAATServer.dll is not to be found on my harddisk.
Then your Roon installation is damaged.
Do you run an AV product such as Norton or McAfee? If so, check to see if it has thought that raatserver.dll is infected with a virus and quarantined it…
Norton quarantaine is empty.
OK, but something has removed that file. Probably best to uninstall Roon and reinstall it again.
Ok, I’ll do that. Thanks.
uninstall.exe is also gone
Well, you could try reinstalling then, but personally I’d be concerned that apparently something has been stomping through your Windows system…
I’ve done an install without first doing an uninstall.
Everything seems to be fine.
Even more than that. All my stuff was still there: database, history, settings.
Exactly in the last state just before the problems.
Is this because I didn’t do an uninstall?
Anyway thanks for your guidance.
Not necessarily. During a “normal” uninstall, you will get the option to choose whether to keep your database and settings or delete them, but in your case the uninstall was broken so that you couldn’t use it.
