Roon dropouts after reboot

Hi, I’m a newcomer to Room, and generally love it, except for the dropouts! I use a Google Mesh Network, my Roon Rock is wired to an AP and Naim Nova is connected via WiFi. I have a Naim Core wired to a AP which is also hard wired. I do realise networking best practices suggest everything should be hardwired but I’m not so sure that is the issue here.

I get about 2 hours of normal play before I start getting dropouts, which then quite quickly gather pace. The dropouts seem to happen on both the Core /NaS and also Internet streamed tracks. If I reboot the problems go away, only to reappear after a couple of hours.

I could hardwire it all but that would be very inconvenient and it seems strange to me how the issue takes a while to develop. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum

It may well be the Mesh. Before spending time I would still temporarily wire the Nova (which seems to be the only device that is on wifi?). Then you will know if it is the wifi or not and where to look

Thank you very much. I’ve left it a few days to make sure it all works. Your plan seems to have worked. I know the network best practice document said I needed to do that, but I was trying to avoid it!

At least you know  I think a mesh can work if set up well and depending on the building etc. but luckily I am fine with a single wifi router in my apartment, so I have no experience or recommendations. Lots of mesh users on the forum, so hopefully someone else can chime in!
