Hmmm… I’ve tried so many combinations, I’m confusing myself. Ok, I setup the controls on matching devices only. No luck.
Try clicking on the on off (the colored one) for the patio HEOS. This should turn on the receiver and show both zones grouped as zone 1 and zone 2
And just in case load defaults and add again the Main and Zone 2 controls (source control is optional)

When adding multiple Marantz AMPS you have to change the friendly name of the amp otherwise it won’t be discovered as a new Squeezebox.

yes it’s the friendly name in the amp settings. Settings → Network → Friendly Name

An update on instructions for those with multiple amps/AVRs of the same model type (the default name is the same and this is used to create the AVR zones) Thanks bullclan for the information. Would appreciatefeedback from others if his works
Denon/Marantz AVRs with two zones can have their power state and volumes controlled independently. In addtion the “sound mode” of the AVR can be selected and main power turned off.
To enable control of AVR zones go to Settings->Extensions->RHEOS->Settings->Enable AVR Zone Control and select “On”. Receivers with mutiple zones will be discovered and a "Zone Control Device " created as a Squeezeplayer.To use this, the control has to be applied to the main AVR. So, select the AVR volume control and the “cog” control button.This will bring up The “zone settings” where you set up the new zones in “Device Setup”. Go to “External Source Controls” and add the appropriate Main Zone and Zone 2 control from the drop down menu and also the “Sound control” for the receiver. You can change the volume control from device to the volume control called “Rheos :” and the name of your receiver. Once created switch on the AVR using the souce control that is now attached to the main receiver (click on the main power button to display the device controls) or turn on both zones manually (only for the first time). Then go to Settings->Audio and a new Squeezebox player for each zone should be there waiting to be enabled that is identified as having your receiver name and Main Zone or Zone 2. You can rename this to your preferred identifier for the zone.
If there are multiple AVRs of the same type its important to edit their “friendly name” in the Denon/Marantz amp. Settings → Network → Friendly Name. Or in the HEOS app Settings → My Devices → AVRs → Advanced ->Device Settings → Device Name
In addition I am uploading a new test version to GITHub, NPM and Docker as TEST. This will not be available in extension manager until tested further (reported crash of ROON server which I have not been able to replicate). In this version 0.9.2-0 I have addrssses the “bouncing volume controls” for fixed groups. The behavior is now that the mains controller of the fixed group sets to the highest level of any player in the group and then adjusts all players by (approximately) the same amount (up or down) when changed. This feels right to me but may need further refinement.
In addition the settings → default_player_ip is now stored and used as the connection when specified rather than discovering the first available player and connecting to that.
Please report any issues or instability as I’d like to have this available in the extension manager as soon as possible.
I am having a hard time. I had all this working with three amps, but since upgrading roon the amps won’t configure.

I did look at the Extension authorizations and see both 0.8.6-0 and 0.9.2-0 registered (I didn’t check this between installs).
I removed everything again, including the both extension authorizations and tried again - same problem (even disabled squeezebox, restarted roon and re-enabled squeezebox)
Once installed and you “enable” rheos it keeps restarting RHEOS
I don’t have an port enabled on the container to allow communication back to RHEOS, it is allowed outbound via a NAT. Only mentioning this as I needed to add an external bridge network to download the logs. When working only had a NAT adapter.
Note: I can’t find what adapter has 169.254.7.9 (self signed IP) - seen in above logs

I have an old version, 0.6.4-4, when I revert to it I don’t get this issue. It doesn’t find my Marantz but that was always a bit hit-and-miss, kinda hoping it might be a little more hit now 
I gather not many people run Rheos from Windows but that’s my mini PC which is pretty much devoted to Roon. Any ideas for what I could try? Thanks.

@peter_richardson extension manager release updated overnight to 0.9.2 was this intentional? Any way seems to working will see if it survives a reboot as it was this that broke the camels back for previous versions as it coincided with a Roon update.

No - not intentional! was meant to be just on the test image - probably used the wrong script 
. Happy its working - I was wondering if the new ROON release may have been at the heart of the problem. May have been a coincidence. Please let me know how 9.2-0 works for you all

Thanks Sean. 0.6 is an old version. This is usually a windows permissions issue and I may need to update the docker file.I have made make a change in GITHub today (version 0.9.2-01) so that you can test and let me know how you get on. Thanks for sharing the log summary - helpful. The assignment to a constant variable is my error and not detected as I don’t test on a windows system.

Edit. Two way control still doesn’t work. Same when using the remote control. Roon also doesn’t pause it keeps going but timer is frozen so it doesn’t move along. Have to stop in Roon wait for signal path to close then restart via roon.

UPDATE Bug Fix v 0.9.2-01 released
Sorry about the accidental push to the LATEST image - which allows updates from extension manager. As it seems to be working for most people I will keep this as the same as the TEST image. Both have been refreshed to address a typo that would lead to lack of two way control if using a DEFAULT PLAYER IP address. It also restores the necessary file permissions for Windows to load a static squeezeplayer (which is pre-installed in most Linux distros).
Please look carefully at 2 way control (which is working as described for me) there will be an error message on the HEOS app but this should not interfere with response to the use of a remote control and functionality of play/pause etc from the HEOS app.
For those with muti-zone set ups fixed zones has been further improved - do test out the volume control for a fixed group and let me know if this is a helpful feature (im thinking about RHEOS2 if Denon/Marantz produce a ROON ready certification!)
Also note the ability to create a “GIANT” buffer size in the UPnP options. This works nicely for me - would love to see if this should be the default.
