Describe the issue
A few weeks ago, my Roon system lost the ability to play di.fm internet radio. Playback starts but stops after 15-30 seconds. The same URL works perfectly on my Onkyo and Yamaha receivers.
Roon Server Version: 2.0 (Build 1455) Internet Radio Format: MP3 at 320kbps The system had been working fine for several years without issues. Could you please advise on a solution?
Describe your network setup
Hardware players are working ok on the same network. Only Roon is affected.
We do not know what changed with the stream (format). Maybe you should/could inquire by the radio station if/what has changed? As the stream fails for you after seconds, the following might be true for that station too:
Thanks for writing in! As a first step, could you please remove the station and manually re-add the station, and test if the issue still occurs?
From a recent Roon Server diagnostic report, we’re seeing an unexpected end-of-file or total drop in data sent from the transport stream.
After it strips connection it then fails authentication when attempting to establish an HTTP request.
Does this happen no matter the remote device you use? If you’re using a Mac, what happens if you temporarily disable the mac firewall during playback. Does the same issue occur?
I reached out to the station and the answer was “nothing has changed on their side”. I tend to believe it since two hardware players, Onkyo and Yamaha receivers are still able to play the stream just fine. Roon is highly problematic since a few weeks ago.
I don’t see an option to delete the station. Editing the Stream URL is not working for me. I’m greeted with this error even when I’m pasting the same URL that is currently in:
It looks like you had another URL associated with this station according to logs, I will send you the link via private message as it looks like it might be tied to your di.fm account. Does the issue only happen when using your NAS? If you try to temporarily use one of your other PCs as the server, does the link play properly then?
The music library is on NAS and has been for years at this point. The issue started to manifest itself just a few weeks ago. DI said nothing has changed on their side. The receivers are playing just fine right now. Roon is not happy though.
