Description of Issue:

Roon is stuck on Fixed Volume. I’ve rebooted my computer. Turned off & unplugged my Boulder 866. All the settings show that the Boulder 866 is set to Device Volume, but the Fixed Volume problem remains.

Hi @Kevin_Turner1 welcome to the community.

As you have, presumably, not done a lot of database administration/editing yet it might be worth uninstalling your Roon core & reinstalling it just in case there was a problem with the original install.
If you have done some editing then do a database backup before uninstalling then restore the backup after the core has been reinstalled.

I can try that. Everything had been working fine for months. I’d say within the last month to few weeks is when this issue popped up.

I didn’t realise that the Boulder had previously been working without problems.
You could try the reinstall or wait until support pick this up, that said, it may be quicker to try the reinstall….

Do you run some beta firmware on the Boulder (their documentation stops at 1.91)?
Did you potentially set the network input into Theater Mode?

No. The firmware update was just released. I had been using 1.91 since I got the 866. I had the same volume problem with 1.91. I thought updating to 1.97 might help, but nope. Looks like Boulder just hasn’t updated the documentation on their site. The input isn’t set to Theater Mode.

Factory reset the Boulder

Reboot Windows and Roon.

Hey @Kevin_Turner1,

Ben with the support team here. An odd issue you have here!

Since some time has passed, I wanted to check in and see if you were still running into issues here?

If so, please reproduce the issue and share the date and time here. That would be helpful

I’ll be on standby for your reply.

I did a factory reset on the Boulder 866 and that fixed the problem, but now it’s doing it again. Not sure if Boulder isn’t keeping their firmware up to date or some other issue causing this problem. I have other ways to control the volume though so it’s not a huge deal. Just more of an annoyance at this point.

Hello, I have exactly the same issue.

So far the only thing that has worked for me is a factory reset of the Boulder. I feel the problem lies within the Boulder somewhere at this point. Not sure if a firmware update or rollback is needed. I have to reset my Boulder again because it’s back to the same problem. Kinda blows because I have custom icons for my inputs so I have reload them every time.
