I read the original idea which seems to be way to let my friends see what music Im playing in real time. To me this seems like a voluntary invasion of my privacy, why would anybody want that?
If I want to let a friend know about a new band or song I can tell them or create a curated playlist, but I dont want them to see whatever Im playing all the time.
I think this is a great idea, it is NOT social media you are proposing, but sharing the LOVE and passion for music. I use this all the time on Spotify, seeing what they are playing but more so checking out their playlists.
Thanks for posting!
Maybe scrolling along some âRecent listeningâ and âWhat youâve been listening toâ for instance?
Giving a setup option to switch off this kind of âinformationâ would not be a bad thing at all.
I donât use a lot of features of Roon partly because I donât have a library of local files. However, if others do, I think itâs great they are available for them. Basically, I have zero complaints about Roon.
EDIT: I guess Roon just canât please some people. They complain if Roon does not implement something they want and they complain if Roon implements something they donât want. They complain if there are not enough updates and they complain if there are too many updates.
There is no pleasing some people.
Well, it was about being forced, wasnât it? And basically, almost every change in software comes to the point of the customer âbeing forcedâ to deal with these changes be they appreciated or not.
And - of course - these are personal (as long as these changes do not introduce bugs and that is quite another story here )
But I stop here as I am complete out of topic right now. Sorry about that.
Improve the share feature and let people do social outside of the main application itself.
Share feature is pretty crippled even if I am sharing from Roon of what I faved on Qobuz. Putting the link if available is a step forward. Likewise when trying to share a playlist on external social network, there is no good way for othera to access the music from another service. Maybe the best balance is to integrate with Soundiz.
I think itâs the âsocialâ function I miss most in Roon, the ability to share what iâm listening to on WhatsApp. Tidalâs share function seems to work, no matter which streaming service the receiving user subscribed to.
This is an under-appreciated thing Tidal figured out.
In terms of Roon, I think Last.FM social integration could be some of what OP is after, not just logging the songs but be able to import albums, tracks, and playlists from Last.FM to Roon. Oh, and HK can acquire Last.FM and keep it all in the family.
