Description of Issue

Things have been stable, but starting yesterday and continuing today, Roon is crashing frequently.
Tried shutting down and restarting the opticalrendu and SonicTransporer.
Tried setting those devices to have static IP addresses.
Crashes happen during playback or when nothing is playing in Roon.
The logs don’t seem to show anything.
Here are the logs:

In the logs I’ve looked at, no error at the end indicating why the crash happened. For example:

Help?!

Update:
I moved the database off of the SonicTransporter, reinstalled roon, had it rescan, and started playing music. No crash so far.
Unfortunately that means I lose A LOT of effort I put into correcting the metadata in the Roon DB. Is there anything roon can do to analyze / repair my crash-causing roon DB?!

Any ideas?

Hey @Peter_Galvin1,

We’re extremely grateful for the thorough post you’ve made in sharing the issue you’ve been impacted by. And, we’re sorry.

Would you please be able to upload the entire zipped up logs folder in our drive? It would really help our team to take a look at.

Hmm. I copied the roon “Database” directory off of the SonicTransporter to save it, and reinstalled Roon etc to make sure the database was the problem.
New roon ran fine, so clearly the database.
But when I copy the saved database directory back to the SonicTransporter, my library is empty etc.
So clearly that’s not sufficient to save / restore my roon state.

Bottom line, I can get roon back to the state it was in to recreate the problem and get you log files…

Hey @Peter_Galvin1,

Thanks for the prompt reply

If I understand correctly, you no longer have the logs you pasted snippets from on this thread?

If that is the case, could you please upload the database itself to this drive created specifically for your case?

Is there one specific file you want? Or say a tar of the “core” directory? @beka?

A post was split to a new topic: Roon crashing since b918 update

The entire zipped up RoonServer folder, when talking about the database. It is generally a few gigabytes.

If, by any chance you’ve found the logs, then, the entire zipped up Logs folder.

OK uploaded what I have…

Turns out I have a backup from a couple of days before this problem started.
Restored to it and will monitor. If the problem happens again will capture logs, full database etc…

So far no problems after restoring. So I think the roon DB got corrupted, but that hasn’t reoccured.
If you put time into roon (metadata, merging albums, creating playlists) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you set up scheduled BACKUPS!
