Describe the issue

Installation failure on Ubuntu Mate 24.04.1

Describe your network setup

Lenovo P360 running Ubuntu Mate 24.04.1 with 128GB Ram connected to ASUS RT-AX88U router

What is the exact error? Can you copy the console output or screenshot here please?

Did you try the solution from:

If you do, does it resolve your issue?

sudo ./roonserver-installer-linuxx64.sh
./roonserver-installer-linuxx64.sh: 1: cannot open html: No such file
./roonserver-installer-linuxx64.sh: 2: Syntax error: redirection unexpected

@Maxwell_Hunt, please note that Roon’s Linux installation instructions are wrong. You must download the installer using this command which includes the -L option, as explained in the thread referenced by @BlackJack:

curl -O -L https://download.roonlabs.com/builds/roonserver-installer-linuxx64.sh

Once correctly downloaded, you can then follow the next steps as indicated by Roon’s instructions.

<Rant>
This is now the second case I know of in so many weeks, in which new users are confronted with this problem, which has been brought to Roon’s attention many months ago. It is unbelievable that this should still not have been corrected by Roon staff…

Followed your advice and managed a successful install on my Ubuntu Mate 24.04.1 OS
I can access the Roon Server on my iPhone but I find the small print and the cramped desktop very frustrating
I installed Community Remote which is now running but I have yet to work out how to access the Roon Server
I also tried to get my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 to connect to the Roon Server but it fails to see the server
I see I’m not the only one having this problem
Any suggestions
The struggle continues…

Hello @Maxwell_Hunt ,

Glad to hear that you’ve been able to install Roon using the -L option!

Thank you for letting us know, this has been corrected in the documentation.

This sounds like the Ubuntu firewall could be blocking Roon from properly showing up on the network. I can’t comment on specific settings to use for the Ubuntu firewall, but the following articles may help:

Thanks for your helpful advice Noris
Currently not using a firewall in OS or router
