Description of Issue

All I want to do is log-in. I have a life subscription. I haven’t been using my M1 Mac Mini 2020, 16GB Memory, Monterey macOS 12.7.

I clicked on Roon in the dock and instead of a log-in page, I get a Roon Server search or use my Mac. What?

My Roon has been set up for years. I haven’t a clue why it is not operating as usual. I have no clue what is going on.

I won’t venture to add a Roon Server to my Mac as Roon is already installed and set up for years.

Can some one please hold my hand and get me back to using my life subscription. Instead I am asked to supply information that would fill a book. Hello?

What has occurred that has changed so that I am being asked to select a Roon Server or scan for one which it doesn’t find. Or add to my Mac. Add what?

Please help me. Thank you. My email is [moderated]

It sounds as though your Roon software has been updated to release 2.0.25 - which was released in November.

With this release, the Roon software has been split into two applications: Roon (the user interface) and Roon Server (the “brains” of Roon), and it’s possible that the Roon Server application on your Mac is not running. You need to have it running first, and then Roon (the UI application) should connect to it.

Please take some time to read the Release Notes to understand the changes that have been made, and then if you still cannot get started, read the troubleshooting tips. If they don’t get you up and running, please come back here and the Support team will help you further.

Dear Geoff,
I am embarrassed. After I created the topic, I decided to find the nerve to choose on my Mac instead of Roon Server. And, as you schooled me, I succeeded in “activating” the sign-in page I expected in the first place. I then searched for my topic and couldn’t find it to alert members like you that I had figured it out. Shame on me for putting you to the effort so admirably provided to me. I apologize for wasting your time. I am totally surprised as I have been mostly able to sort things out but from time to time I have needed tech support; and it has always been provided with a resolution. Than you Geoff. Wishing you a very Happy Holiday and New Year. Stay safe. Warm personal regards, Richard

Looks like you are enjoying life and as a Roon volunteer providing support, I feel lucky you chose to help me even though I sorted it out before reading your very helpful post reply to my alleged problem. Beautiful Lab (?). Er’ I meant is your Pal a Lab? I looked you up on Roon. Your support efforts are a boon to being a subscriber which I have been since the very beginning of Roon. I didn’t realize it had been bought until now. I am also an Amarra subscriber since 2008 and volunteered to be a beta tester. Amarra suspended innovations over two years ago. I made a giant effort as a beta tester and feel very let down. Roon’s innovations are huge. And the organization is or has become state of art. Thank you Geoff. Enjoy! Warm personal regards, Richard
