Hi,
my roon keeps on scanning and doesn’t stop for more than one day.
I have tried to reboot the roon server, the PC where the roon server is installed and the NAS with music folder connect to the roon but the scanning is still stuck.
I tried to turn off the “import itunes playlist (which I don’t have any of it)” and “import other playlists (m3u)”. My roon started to scan again and the files scanned number did increase a bit but finally is tuck at “438926”.
My roon server is install in a PC with intel i9-12900H CPU, 32GB RAM and Windows 11.
The music folder is in a Synology NAS model DS423+.

Hi Benjamin,
Thank you for your reply!
I tried to change the Automatic rescan interval setting from 24 hours to “only on startup” yesterday (more than 12 hours ago).
Then I rebooted the roon reserver.
It rescaned the database again but stuck at “438986”.
The number increases a little bit from 438926 to 438986 because I imported
several albums during this time.
But it is still stuck and keeps scanning now…
Hi Benjamin,
My roon is still stuck.
I tried to reboot everything and tried to change the Automatic rescan
but the situation is still the same.
The scanning is still running for 3 more days without stop.
I am still here waiting for your help…
Thanks for the update, and sorry to hear you’re still having issues!
We were able to review a fresh diagnostic report from your Roon Server, and saw potential errors when attempting to identify an album ([Stockhausen] *Stimmung* by Paul Hillier, Theatre of Voices) - can you try removing this album and see if scanning is able to complete?
Next, there could be some additional bad files in the directory that could be disrupting the scan. Check Roon’s Skipped Files list (Settings → Library → Skipped Files) for any problematic files.
Are you adding or modifying any files while Roon is actively scanning?
Since you have such a large library, it may help to break your watched folers into smaller subsets and add them one at a time to see where any potential hang-ups may occur.
Thank you so much for your advice!
Problem solved finally!!!
First I tried to remove the problematic file and all the skipped file shown in the setting/library.
But actually this didn’t help.
Then I devided the music file folder into 4 folders in my synology nas.
I added the folders one by one into roon server.
This process took a long time because roon not only rescan all the files
but also added files to the library.
Anyway roon recaned all 4 folders and completed the scan.
I am so happy to see my roon back to nornal!
