· Hello, I’m experiencing a strange issue with Roon listening statistics. Over the last few days I’ve listened extensively to Amon Düül II, especially the albums Phallus Dei and Yeti, through TIDAL in Roon. The plays are correctly recorded in Roon History and also appear in Recent Activity. The same listening activity is also correctly reflected in Last.fm and in TIDAL’s own monthly listening statistics. However, Amon Düül II does not appear at all in Roon’s “Your Top Artists”, and neither Phallus Dei nor Yeti appear in “Your Top Releases”. I have checked both Last Week and Last Month, and the artist/albums are missing from both periods, despite many hours of listening. I have already restarted the Roon Server, but the issue remains. Other artists listened to during the same period are being counted normally. It seems that the playback history is being recorded correctly, but these Amon Düül II plays are not being included in Roon’s listening statistics. I can provide screenshots of Roon History, Recent Activity, Top Artists, Top Releases, Last.fm and TIDAL statistics if needed. Thank you very much for your help.
Thanks for the detail, and the offer of screenshots is appreciated. We have looked at your server logs and can rule several things out already.
Your plays are recorded correctly and completely. Over the period in question your listening was logged with a median of about three and a half minutes per track and nothing shorter than thirty seconds, so every play comfortably passes the thresholds Roon uses. Both albums, Yeti and Phallus Dei, were identified successfully on 29 August. There is one profile on this server, so the plays are not landing on a different one. Nothing here points to a problem with your history.
So the question is specifically why those plays are not being attributed to the artist in the statistics, and we do not want to give you a cause we have not confirmed.
Two things would narrow it down, and both are quick:
Please open the Amon Düül II artist page in Roon, by clicking the artist name from either album. Does it look complete, with a photo, a biography and both albums listed under it? Or is it sparse, or do the albums not appear there? That difference tells us whether the artist itself is fully resolved in your library, which is what the statistics aggregate against.
Please also tell us what the period selector above the statistics is set to, and whether the artist appears under any of the other options. The lists show the top fifty artists and top fifty albums for the chosen period, so we want to be sure we are comparing the same window you listened in.
Screenshots of the artist page and of the statistics with the period visible would cover both questions.
One thing you can stop doing: restarting the server will not change this, so please do not repeat that.
