Description of Issue
Hi,
I am currently experiencing an issue with Roon and T+A DAC200 that kills the experience a bit in terms of practicality:
Currently listening via ASIO driver in native mode with DSD512 upsampling
After listening session, I press stop, wait for Roon to release dac and turn the dac off
(I noticed after some exploring that DAC200 ASIO “zone” does not disappear in Roon as it should similar to when using WASAPI driver)
Next time i want to listen, I turn DAC200 back on
In Roon pressing play results in flying by all songs in a playlist until it stops, no sound and no control of DAC, until it says “nothing playing”…
The only way to get things to normal is: 1) reboot NUC server; 2) Go to Device Setup in Roon, change any option, save; 3) Settings>Audio, disable and enable the device.
i also did notice that when using PCM this does not happen. Zone does not disappear as well but when pressing play it plays normally.
Not sure if i understand your question. It just runs very quickly til the end of a playlist/album until it reaches the last song and stop with “Nothing Playing” (queue says “Nothing queued”). if i am playing just one file, it just stops and same happens.
This with streaming/local files, albuns or playlist.
Pressing Ctrl+T on iPad music stops. Seems to release the DAC a bit quicker (going from DSD512 to No Data on the dac screen a bit faster), If i turn of the DAC and then back on the same behaviour occurs.
Thank you for your patience! If possible, could you please reproduce the issue, take note of the date and time of the issue, and use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader, that would be helpful.
Do you have another device you could temporarily setup as a core to test running the T+A DAC200 from?
What is the current firmware version on the DAC200?
Just to add that this is something that is not exclusive to my setup and has been reproduced by former T+A Head of engineering (i believe he goes by @Larry_HV on this forum, and has passed the problem to Roon’s technical team)
@jonnie : We have not forgotten this issue and I would like to give an update regarding the current state:
T+A has done quite a few tests and checked the DAC200 ASIO driver.
The driver was found to be ok and it behaves according to the ASIO specifications.
The cause for this problem seems to be a problem within roon. We have reported our findings and test results to the roon team on March 24th. Currently we are waiting for an answer.
Maybe somebody from the roon team (@benjamin) has some new information ?
Hi @benjamin, sorry to press, but… any news to why this is happening or a solution to the issue? It is now 6M in since i reported and little feedback has been provided on this. Especially when some help from outside (T+A) was provided.
I have the exact same issue but in a very very cheap DAC. I have Yamaha NX-N500 with the provided ASIO driver. My OS is Windows 11 Home.
When I use Roon with upsampling to DSD128 everything MUST initialize. I keep my computer on and also my programs. The speakers have an auto standby feature. When I open them again, Roon fails like the OP mentions. I must close Roon and reopen it. If Roon plays without upsampling everything is OK. Open speakers and play.
