Description of Issue

Hello,

Today I was requested ti update to Sonoma 14.3 to solve other issues I was having and now Roon refuses to pass the splash screen.

I can see that some others have had this issue but there seems to be no resolve.

This all worked perfectly before the update.

Please can you investigate this for me please.

Thanks

Hi Ray,

Please tell us which version of Roon you’re using. Or can we assume that you have the latest and that you know about the recent changes which ‘divided’ Roon’s architecture into what could be considered client-server.

Does your Roon installation reflect this?

If so, then you may need specifically and manually to start the Roon server on your Mac Studio.

Please post a screen grab of exactly what you see at the splash screen you refer to.

Hi Mark

I normally install the updates as soon as I see the message at the bottom of the screen. Also this was working perfect before I did the update yesterday.

When I select " About Roon " noting happens

This has been the screen since I opened Roon several hours ago

Thanks

Ray

also - I tried to re install and it said that the version I had was newer than the one I was trying to install

Ray,

So - as far as you can be sure - you are using Roon version 2 build 1359; in the Finder Cmnd+I should show a date close to January 10 2024?

Is Roon Server running in the taskbar:

Server Running?

Is it possible that the new macOS install asked you to make changes (or you made changes - perhaps connected to something else) to your Firewall settings?

Almost needless to ask, you have rebooted your Mac Studio recently - especially after the update?

Hi Mark

Firstly - the Mac was rebooted and several times since
and yes, the Roon menu bar appears at the top of the screen - but whatever you select - nothing happens

and the Roon service running - is Ghosted

Screenshot 2024-01-30 at 23.40.26

Is this something that Roon should look at ? do I need to contact them directly ?

Thanks

Ray

Ray,

Your screenshot suggests that the Roon server is running.

What happens, though if you quit the unresponsive Roon, restart your Mac Studio, and then single-click on ‘Open Roon’ from that menu in the taskbar?

Just to clear up two other things: as far as you can be sure - you are using Roon version 2 build 1359; in the Finder Cmnd+I should show a date close to January 10 2024; Yes?

And then, is it possible that the new macOS install asked you to make changes (or you made changes - perhaps connected to something else) to your Firewall settings?

Yes - there will be others here who can make suggestions to get you further if none of this works. Do let us know

Will reboot and let you know

Thanks

Hi Mark

so…I did not reboot but I was a bit suspicious about " security updates " so I looked at preferences and saw that ROON was denied full disk access - I moved the switch , and not its working

other than that , I don’t know what else to say - other thank thanks for your help.

Still no response from Roon - should I expect one or not ?

Cheers

Ray

Is there a typo here, and did you mean to say “now it’s working”?

Because if it is working, the Support team don’t need to get involved and I can mark this issue as closed. Please let me know, thanks.

Hi, it Ghosted as it’s not selectable … but the shown status “Running” will be correct.
