You can install an alternative version of Roon, which will run on macOS 11. This will not be maintained, so you ought to upgrade to macOS 12 or newer.

If you can’t do this via Apple updates, consider using OpenCore Legacy Patcher.

Roon’s minimum OS requirements have recently been updated, and unfortunately, macOS Big Sur is no longer supported.

To continue using Roon on your current hardware, your best options are to either use the OpenCore Legacy Patcher to upgrade your macOS or install a Linux distribution on your Mac.

I have 2 options

1 Is a dedicated server which is Wired. It is a 2013 Macbook Pro with 16GB Ram running OS 11 Big Sur and apple will not allow it to upgrade. It would have to remain on the older version of Roon.

  1. Mac Mini 2025 on WIFI- Google Fiber 1GB and doubles as my office computer.

What would you suggest?

Neither. Just use OCLP to install Monterey and continue to use the latest version of Roon.

Summarizing this for posterity and other users, as the Community has already helpfully weighed in here and you seem to have found a path forward.

Roon has updated the minimum requirements with the most recent releases, but you can use the third-party tool (OCLP, linked in the post above) to patch older Intel mac hardware in the meantime to update to MacOS 12.

There is also a temporary installer for the older release that you can still use on MacOS 11. This version will not receive future updates or security fixes, and may become incompatible with current Roon Remote or ARC versions over time. You can find the installer here.
