Two Roon units in my system, one core one remote. Both are connected via ethernet cable. They speak to each other via Wi-Fi across a 20 foot gap from my state of the art router, which works beautifully with everything else. The Core unit cannot be found. I have paid an expert to explore this on site without success.
Is multicast enabled on your router?
Also, if both devices are using Ethernet, then they’re not speaking to each using WiFi; they’re using Ethernet.
@Stevan_Cavalier, as @xxx and @Jim_F note, you should not have network connections using both WiFi and cabled Ethernet simultaneously, choose for each computer to either EITHER WiFi or cabled Ethernet.
That said, what types of computer are you using for your Core and Remote? If they are Windows PCs, can you confirm that their individual network settings are set to Private Network? Roon requires Private Network to enable discovery on your home network.
