Roon Not Playing Music on PC through KEF Speakers via USB (ref#LVEHOI)

What best describes your playback issue?

· Other

Is there a specific error message you see? If so, please select from the following options:

· "Too Many Failures - Stopping Playback"

Please try to reboot your Roon Server and check to see if this helps.

· Rebooting my Server had no effect, the issue remains

Please try to reboot and unplug/replug in your affected audio device and check to see if this helps.

· Rebooting and unplugging/replugging my audio device, the issue remains

Please open your Roon Remote and select the "System Output" Zone and try to play to it. Do you encounter any playback errors with this Zone?

· I don't have a System Output available, but I'd like to keep troubleshooting

Please try fully rebooting your network equipment

· No, I'm still having trouble

An issue with playback on System Output and another zone often indicates a network security problem. *Check your firewall(s)* to ensure that *Roon*, *RoonServer *and *RAATServer* are allowed to properly communicate

· I'm still having problems / This isn't relevant to me

Does the issue happen with local library music, streaming service music, or both?

· Both local and streaming content are affected

Please try playing content of a lower sample rate (44.1kHz or 48kHz). Do you still have the same issue?

· Lowering the sample rate improves symptoms but I'm still having problems

What is the model/manufacturer of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?

· It is just the KEF X300A speakers connected through a USB connection to my PC which is a Thinkpad. All network connections for this particular setup are by Ethernet.

Describe the issue

My PC plays out from a pair of KEF speakers through USB and these were and still are visible as output devices. But for some reason Roon stopped playing without any error message. When I try to play music from my library it refuses to play and it displays the " too many errors" message. all the remotes on my ipad, iphone etc. sees the KEF's same issues with them. However my other devices around the house has no problem playing whatever I choose.

Describe your network setup

I have a wired, and wireless network behind an ORBI RBR50 with one satellite. All devices are connected to the same router and all are visible as connected on the devices list. This worked without any problem for at least 2+ years. Although every now and then KEF's disappeared which needed to be switched on/off but this time that doesn't work .

Hi @Mehmet,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue. For the first troubleshooting steps ensure that multicast is enabled on your Orbi setup, try using one of the drivers from KEF here, and verify that your KEF is on the latest firmware, if the PC remote is behind the satellite try hardwiring it to the main router. Let us know if this works for you.

Thank you Daniel.
All set ups were fine but it still didn’t work. By the way a new driver is no more available for the FEK’s as far as I understand.
However, I figured out what the problem was. I have no idea how it happened but in the Settings of windows 11 when I checked the “KEF” System>Sound>Properties, I noticed both “Audio Enhancements” and “Spatial Sound” was turned on. When I switched them off, the KEF’s started to play through Roon and KEF’s were visible also. Thanks for your feedback, if I didn’t have to go through “driver update” process I wouldn’t see these options were switched on. To be honest with you, I have no explanation as to how they were switched on? I am suspecting maybe an application I recently loaded have done it but I need more detective work for this, I rather listen music!
You can close the case with this explanation.
