Describe the issue
After last update, Roon stopped streaming to my Martin Logan forte amps. This has worked for a couple of years. Jriver and Tidal work fine. Roon sees the amps but music never plays. I have set the Forte amps in Roon to support legacy protocols and they will not work. Is it possible to rollback the current version of Roon that just installed? Believe something got wonky with Airplay support with the latest release.
Describe your network setup
Spectrum internet, amps and roon connected via dedicated switch
No, not unless you have saved the previous setup build. Roon Labs don’t support rollbacks. There have been a number of reports of AirPlay issues in this Production build (which weren’t picked up by Early Access customers) so Roon Labs will be investigating what has happened here. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I’m curious - what happens if you add the Martin amp to your Apple Home app first, and then attempt to play audio via airplay from it? Here’s more info on how to do this:
This is an interesting bit of info. Do they show up now, after you’ve updated the firmware?
To confirm, all your Roon devices are on the same local network subnet, correct?
Lastly, our team is having difficulties enabling diagnostics on your Roon Server, could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
Benjamin - Confirmed, all the devices are on the subnet connected to the same switch as the roon core. I will run a few tests so they are at the top of the log and send over. Thank you for the support!
There should be an update available in the time since you last posted.
Diagnostics from our servers show your RoonServer instance failing to reach the internet due to network interruption, forced closure in the connection, or timeout from the upstream server. This includes basic RoonServer functions like gathering the time of day, or identifying devices on the network. It’s possible this has exacerbated issues with device discovery and streaming to networked Zones.
Which Roon Remote are you using to connect the Forte amps via Airplay? Additionally, please elaborate on the switch you initially mentioned in your network setup. We’ll move forward from there. Thank you!
Extended Pinging from the roon core PC to the Forte amps
Extended pings from other devices hardwired and wifi to the roon core
Disabled the windows firewall
All of this works fine, i have no packet loss
I have also tested streaming directly from Tidal to the Forte amps for extended periods of time with no issue. Roon sees the Forte amps. If i power them off, they do not appear in roon. If i turn them back on, they reappear.
Streaming from Roon to other devices works fines as well. For example, i have a NAD receiver in my office which i stream music to via Roon. This negotiates as Chromecast. I also have a portable Bose speaker which streams via Airplay that works without issue.
The roon core and the Forte amps are all connected to a Dell switch which has an uplink to the cable modem/wifi router. All network services on the roon core work fine. I can watch videos, surf the web, stream video, etc. without issue.
Hi @brucinski,
We have a ticket open with our QA team for your right now. In order to test further they need some time to requisition equipment to mirror your setup. This is being worked on now however I cannot give you an exact timeline.
As a follow-up test, we’re curious - can you set up your forte devices via airplay to the system output of your Windows machine or iPhone, and then set Roon to play to the system output of the same device?
And just to be thorough in troubleshooting, could you temporarily set up a direct connection from the Forte to your router? Ideally your Roon Server as well, but I understand it may be difficult to do.
