Roon Nucleus+ Network Error

I am having difficulty trying to log in to my Roon App / Nucleus+ on a BT home network, which is incredibly frustrating as I bought the Nucleus+ specifically to avoid such problems.

The Roon app on my Macbook Pro sees the Nucleus+ but when selected as the core and I try to log in to my account, I get a red banner with the message ‘Network Error: Please check your internet connection’.

I can access the Web Administration Interface (see screenshot) which shows that the Networking / Ethernet IP address and Netmask appear correct but the Gateway and DNS Server both show 0.0.0.0

I believe the Gateway should be 192.168.1.254 but need to know the DNS server address/value.

Other posts here appear to be for Windows users, so would greatly appreciate any assistance!

An IP address starting with 169.x.x.x ist a self created one when the device (the Nucleus) does not receive a valid response from the local DHCP server (typically your internet router).

I would start checking the cables and then restart the DHCP server.

That’s a self assigned private IP address, it means your nucleus isn’t getting a DHCP address or can’t talk to the DHCP server.

Many thanks @Bernd_Kurte and @Lebowski for replying; will do as you suggest and see what happens.

Well, after plugging the Nucleus+ directly into my router, rebooting and swapping out cables, I was finally able to get Roon up and running. It appears that the ethernet cable, which had worked perfectly with my Innuos server, was the problem after all.

I had wondered if there was also an issue with the powerline adapter but plugging the Nucleus+ back into the adapter, it connected seamlessly.

Thanks again for your posts and suggestions. I found them very helpful, as it made me realise that the Nucleus+ wasn’t talking to the DHCP server, even though it was visible on the Roon app.
