Roon nucleus titan cannot detect a USB SSD

I’ve connected a new 4 TB SSD to my Titan’s USB port but the app does not detect the new hard drive.

I’ve restarted the Titan, but it still doesn’t detect the hard drive.

How do I get the system to recognize the additional storage device?

You could try re-formatting the USB drive by using a PC or Mac to re-format it? See the USB Storage - Best Practice section in this Help article for the format recommendations:

PS - it’s just occurred to me that you may have already put your music on the drive by first attaching it to a Windows PC and having the drive formatted as NTFS - was this the case? If so, let us know and we’ll post the next steps to resolve the issue.

Hi,

No, it’s a brand new drive that I wanted to use as a secondary backup location to backup my Titan periodically. I will format the drive on my PC and see if it will be recognized.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

Tom

I will format it as exFat (whatever that means) and plug it into the Titan. Hopefully that will work.

Thanks,

Tom

Erm, are you expecting that the drive will show up automatically in :gear:> Storage as a Watched Folder?

That’s not how Roon works. You have to explicitly add a Watched Folder by using the Add Folder button and then browsing what is found by the Nucleus. So here, for example is what I see when browsing on my ROCK/NUC system - that “New Volume” was the first thing I saw, and then I used the New folder button to create folders on the drive…

Hi After formatting the SSD via my PC, the Nucleus Titan recognized the drive and I was able to back up my music to the SSD (and set periodic automatic backups).

Problem solved!

Thank you!

Tom
