Hello @bill1083

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

Just to clarify a few details so we can assist better:

  • When you visited your friend, did you bring the HiFi Rose RS130 or the Roon Nucleus One, or both?
  • What audio formats (e.g. FLAC, DSD, MQA) are affected by the digital noise?
  • Is any DSP processing or MUSE feature enabled in Roon for this zone?
  • Could you please share a screenshot of the Signal Path (click the small glowing dot next to the track progress bar while something is playing) so we can better understand how Roon is sending the audio?
With this information, we’ll be able to determine if the issue is hardware-related or something that can be resolved through settings.

Hi @bill1083,

We’ve been working behind the scenes with our RMA team to respond to our case, but we’re going to need the information that my colleague @vadim requested above in order to proceed.

Based on the videos you provided over email, we don’t suspect a broken physical component is the problem here. This type of audible artifact generally points to a transcoding or driver problem with this particular Zone. This is something you can resolve in the Device Setup page or by adjusting the settings in their driver or endpoint.

Please try to:

  1. reproduce the digital disortion with another Zone, like computer or phone speakers. Does this only occur with the Rose?

  2. Disable all DSP in MUSE

  3. Play tracks of different file formats and sample rates

Afterwards, please share a screenshot of the Signal Path here.

Please also ensure you’ve read through our Audio Setup guide here.

We’ll watch for your response. Thanks!
