Describe the issue

Hi Roon Support
I got problems with roon software it can't start up anymore. It says waiting for your roon server. I haven't had problems before, but I suspect that it is MAC's new sequoia 15.0 that is causing the problem.
If I install roon.dmg again it works as it should but when I turn off my mac and start it again the error message comes up again.
"Waiting for your roon server."
It works on my Ipad, Iphone & my PC windows 11
Best regards
Kim

Describe your network setup

Innuos Zenith Mk.3 Player & server

You need to turn on the “Launch at startup” option in Roon Server. See:

Hi again

I don’t really understand what you mean, I’ve always had roon.dmg installed and never had the problem before. My roon server is my innous zenith Mk.3 with 8 TB of storage. I believe that the problem may have occurred after my IMAC was updated to Sequoia 15.0 the last new update.

I can´t find “Launch at Startup” on my IMAC where I have installed Roon.dmg

Best regards

Kim

Ah - ok, I thought that you had got your Roon Server running on your Mac - now I see you are saying it is on your Innuos Zenith. Sorry, I missed that.

Hello again
I think the problem is that roon can’t choose my innous zenith but chooses my Imac as core and that’s wrong. I’ve had uninstalled the roon and installed it again and couldn’t be allowed to select my innous as the core see attached image. I still think it happened in the last update from room.

Hi @Kim_Bronnum-jacobsen,

This screen indicates that the Innuos server is visible to the Roon client on your Mac, but it’s either a) unavailable to connect in its current state or b)the network can’t sustain the connection.

We can rule out the first possibility because diagnostics indicate that this RoonServer machine has pinged our servers in the last twenty minutes.

However, Sequoia has been known to police local network connections with some changes to network permissions defaults. In Mac System Settings, navigate to Private & Security → Local Network and verify Roon is toggled On. Also check that Roon is permitted to connect in the MacOS Firewall.

if you continue to have difficulty, then please summarize the basic network topology involved. Are your iMac and your Innuos machine connecting to the same router/switch?

Hello again
I can’t get it to work anymore I checked what you asked me to. See attached files. Mac just updated to 15.01 that didn’t help either. Are you sure there are no errors in roon.dmg ver. 2.0 (Build 1462)?
This is the first problem I’ve had with roon in the 4-5 years I’ve been using it.
Best Regards
Kim

Try toggling the Roon and RoonServer entries off and back on in Private & Security → Local Network. Then reboot the Mac. This seems to have helped in some cases.

Hello again
It helped - it is not necessary to restart the MAC, you can just go into Privacy & Security, turn Roon & RoonServer off and on  Is there anything I can do now that we have found out why it didn’t start up? so it will work properly again?
Best regards
Kim

I’m not sure and I’m just a Roon user, but there were many similar issues like this reported after Sequoia updates.

My best guess is that Sequoia somehow turned off this setting internally, but this isn’t reflected in the visual state of the toggle switch, which still shows the „on“ state. If so, toggling the switch off and back on probably enables the underlying setting, and the visual state then reflects the actual state of the setting again.

As far as I can see from the forum posts, it seems that after doing this once it should be ok.

Hi @Kim_Bronnum-jacobsen,
Is Roon working for you now?
