Roon on my Mac 14.1.2 is stuck on “Initializing”

Roon on my Mac 14.1.2 is stuck on “Initializing”. It is using almost 93 GB (out of 128 GB) of memory. Tried to deauthorize but it hung. Had to force quit.

Maybe better to open a new topic in Support? As it seems unrelated to the crash that is discussed here, and you may get faster help with a new topic

Hi there,

I have split out your post to it’s own topic …

To receive appropriate help, it would be really helpful if you could complete the template provided below.

You can copy and paste it into your reply.

Please be sure to include details of your server, network, storage location of your media files, and any messages displayed by Roon.

Including these details in your first post helps resolve your issues faster.

Thank you.

Roon Server Machine

Include your operating system and machine info (Model, CPU, RAM).

Networking Gear & Setup Details

Your networking gear (model of routers/switches/etc), connection types (Wifi/Ethernet), and any firewalls, antivirus, or VPN software.

Connected Audio Devices

Specify what devices you’re using and their connection types, like USB/HDMI/Chromecast, etc.

Number of Tracks in Library

Tell us how large your music library is, eg. “30,000 tracks”.

Description of Issue

Tell us about the problem you’re having in as much detail as possible. Screenshots are always appreciated!

Hi @David_Moor,

Thank you for your post, and we’re sorry it’s taken a few days to reach you.

Just to be clear - are you attempting to migrate your RoonServer to this device, or are you intending to use this as a Remote?

If you’re planning on using this Mac for Roon only, then please try reinstalling first, as this will only affect the Remote and visual component of the app.

If you’re planning on using this Mac as your RoonServer machine, then take the following steps:

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Be sure you have a Backup available if you don’t want to rebuilt your library
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Restore from an available Backup
